CEM Hosts 5th Rummikub Competition to Promote Intergenerational Harmony and Spread Love

Macao, 31 July 2026

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) has once again jointly organized the Rummikub Competition with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and the General Volunteers Association of Macao, widely inviting citizens of different age groups to compete on a common platform and promote intergenerational interaction. Since its debut in 2022, the competition has received an overwhelming response. Entering its fifth edition this year, the event continues the attention and enthusiasm for participation accumulated in the past. The previous edition drew a record-breaking total of nearly 1,000 applicants, with participants ranging in age from 6 to 97 years old, underscoring its broad appeal across generations.

The Rummikub Competition 2026 will take place on 25 October (Sunday) at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre. Applications are open from today until 25 September (Friday). The list of admitted participants will be announced on CEM’s official Facebook page on 30 September (Wednesday), and admitted participants will be notified via email and SMS.

The competition comprises two categories: the School Group and the Open Group. The School Group targets students from Primary 1 to Form 6. Applications must be submitted through their respective schools, with a total quota of 40 teams to be admitted. The Open Group is open to Macao residents aged 6 or above, with a quota of 160 participants. In the event of over-registration, participants will be selected by a randomized computer draw. Minors aged 6 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Each admitted participant is required to pay an entry fee of MOP 100. CEM will sponsor the entry fees for all School Group participants, individuals aged under 18 or 65 and above, as well as holders of a valid Beneficiary Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau. All proceeds, without deduction of expenses, will be donated in full to the beneficiary organization “Cradle of Hope Association” to provide tangible support to underprivileged children. Through this initiative, CEM aims to raise public awareness of vulnerable groups, encourage greater understanding of their needs, and spread love throughout the community to build a caring and inclusive society together.
