CEM holds Rummikub Competition again to encourage intergenerational communication

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) has joint hands with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions and the General Volunteers Association of Macao to host the Rummikub Competition, marking the third year of the event. The competition has been well received by the public, with a total of 320 people of all different ages taking part last year. The oldest participant was 96 years old while the youngest was 8 years old. By bringing people of different ages and backgrounds together to compete, CEM hopes to enhance social inclusion and intergenerational communication, also to promote the concept of building a harmonious community and the importance of an inclusive society. All proceeds from the competition without deduction of expenses will be donated to the Fuhong Society of Macau.
The Rummikub Competition 2024 is scheduled to be held at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 12 October (Saturday). The competition is divided into two groups, namely, the School Group and the Open Group. The School Group is open to students of Primary 3 to Form 6, with a total of 40 teams accepted. The Open Group is open to Macau residents aged 8 years old or above to join, with a quota of 160 participants. If the number of enrollments exceed the quota, participants will be drawn randomly by computer. Minors aged 8-12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or a curator. Each of the admitted participants will pay a competition fee of MOP100 while the School Group, aged under 18 and 65 years old or above will be sponsored by CEM. The enrollment starts today till 17 September 2024, and the entry list will be announced on CEM Facebook fan page on 24 September. Admitted participants will be notified by email and SMS.
In the School Group, there will be one winner for champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, who will receive a cash prize of MOP2,000, MOP1,500 and MOP1,000 and a trophy respectively, and each of the five merit award winners will receive MOP500 cash prize and a trophy. On the other hand, the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up of the Open Group will receive a cash prize of MOP3,000, MOP2,000 and MOP1,500 and a trophy respectively, and each of the five merit award winners will receive MOP1,000 cash prize and a trophy.
