To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) has joined hands with the Macao Youth Federation and the Youth Committee of Macao Federation of Trade Unions to organize the first CEM Rummikub Competition. Rummikub is a game suitable for people of all ages, which can help defer cognitive decline and prevent dementia. Through the activity, CEM hopes to raise public awareness of dementia, arouse the society’s attention to groups with special needs, improve the public’s understanding of dementia and their needs, thereby ramping up care and support for them. All proceeds from the competition without deduction of expenses will be donated to the Macau Alzheimer's Disease Association (MADA).

The Rummikub Competition is scheduled to be held at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 15 October. The competition is divided into two groups, namely, the Middle School Group and the Open Group. The competition is open to all Form 1-6 students, who can form a team of four, with each team being led by a teacher, to join the competition. A total of 40 teams will be competing in the Middle School Group. The Open Group is open to Macau residents aged 18 or above to join, with a quota of 160 participants. If the number of enrollments exceed the quota, participants will be drawn randomly by computer. Each of the admitted player will pay a competition fee of MOP100 while the Middle School Group will be sponsored by CEM. In addition, there will be a charity bazaar on site. The competition fees collected and the proceeds from the charity bazaar will be donated to MADA. The enrollment deadline for the competition will be on 23 September 2022, and the entry list will be announced on CEM Facebook fan page on 27 September 2022.

Not only does the mentally challenging game pledge support for people with dementia, Rummikub competition is also a chance for the participants to win fabulous prizes and awards. The grand prizes for Middle School Group and Open Group are of up to MOP2,000 and MOP3,000. Interested parties can simply fill out the online enrollment form.
