Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) held its "Safety Training for Contractors" today at the Plaza Restaurant, aiming to promote a safety culture and enhance contractor employees' awareness and practical knowledge of occupational safety and health. The event attracted nearly 100 engineering contractor employees, who participated with great enthusiasm.

At the opening ceremony, Lawrence Sun, Senior Manager of CEM Transmission and Distribution Department, emphasized that occupational safety and health is not only a legal requirement but also a core value of corporate sustainability, reflecting the company's "people-oriented" management philosophy. He pointed out that a safe and healthy working environment is a crucial foundation for enhancing employee efficiency and service quality. CEM has established an occupational health and safety management system that meets international standards. Safety measures have been systematically integrated into all business operations, and regular training sessions are conducted to strengthen the company's safety culture. He further stated that CEM will continue to improve its risk control mechanisms to minimize potential hazards that may threaten the health and safety of employees, contractors, and the public. The company will also keep optimizing its occupational health and safety system and promoting occupational safety and health information through diverse activities.

The training course was delivered by Sou Kuok Fai, Senior Technician of the Labour Affairs Bureau, and Alex Fong, Engineer of CEM Transmission and Distribution Department. The three topics covered were "Risk Assessment and Safety Management in Confined Spaces," "Safe Use of Chemicals," and "Common Services Tunnel Operation". The content blended theory and practice, and participants unanimously found the course highly beneficial and practical.

CEM has organized such training sessions annually since 2014, receiving widespread support from the industry. Additionally, CEM established the "Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Awards" in 2008 to recognize contractors and suppliers for their efforts in promoting safety and environmental protection, making it the first enterprise in Macao to establish such an award. CEM reaffirmed its commitment to working with the industry to promote the widespread adoption of occupational safety and health practices. Through various activities, CEM seeks to unite industry forces and work toward the vision of "Zero Accidents."
