The “2026 CEM Summer Training Programme” jointly organized by Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) and the University of Macau (UM) concluded successfully with the closing ceremony held at the Student Activity Centre Theatre of UM's Main Campus on 11 September. A total of 24 UM students participated in this year’s program. CEM and UM have collaborated on the Summer Training Programme for 35 years, providing local university students with valuable workplace exposure and practical learning opportunities. The program enables students to apply classroom knowledge in practice, strengthen their professional skills and overall competencies, and build a solid foundation for their future careers.

The ceremony was officiated by Professor Rui Paulo da Silva Martins, UM Vice Rector (Global Affairs) and Hellen Lok, Director of CEM Human Resources and Sustainability Department. UM faculty staff, CEM management team, internship supervisors and participating students gathered to celebrate the students' achievements and personal growth over the past few months.

In his speech, Professor Rui Martins highlighted that UM has always placed equal emphasis on theory and practice. Through collaborations with industry partners in offering summer internship programs, UM strives to create diverse experiential learning platforms for students. Such initiatives enable students to integrate academic knowledge with industry needs, enhancing their professional capabilities and workplace competitiveness. He expressed sincere gratitude to CEM for its longstanding support in talent development and looked forward to further strengthening the partnership to nurture more outstanding talents with global perspectives and professional competence.

Hellen Lok congratulated the students on successfully completing the Summer Training Program and commended them for the enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the internship. She noted that the students had actively participated in various tasks, bringing youthful energy and creative thinking to CEM. Through hands-on involvement in daily operations, they also gained a deeper understanding of the development and operation of the power industry, while accumulating valuable practical experience for their future careers.

During the ceremony, CEM presented certificates and commemorative souvenirs to the students in recognition of their dedication and contributions throughout the internship. CEM also expressed its sincere appreciation to UM and all internship supervisors for their professional guidance and unwavering support, which have been instrumental to the continued success of the program over the years.

As the Summer Training Programme draws to a close, the students have returned to campus to begin their final year of university studies. CEM encouraged them to continue applying the knowledge and experience gained during the internship while embracing future challenges with confidence. CEM extends its best wishes to all participants for their academic success and looks forward to welcoming them back to the CEM family as professionals, contributing together to Macao’s development.
