Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) held a certificate award ceremony for “Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians” on 8 September 2026 at CEM Building, awarded certificates to 43 electrical technicians who successfully passed the assessment.

The ceremony was attended by Chris Chao, Director of CEM Customer Services Department, and Hellen Lok, Director of CEM Human Resources and Sustainability Department, together with Senior Managers, key personnels, and trainers. The successful completion of this assessment reflects the growing emphasis placed by local electrical technicians on professional expertise and safety standards, marking another milestone in advancing the professionalization and high‑quality development of the local electrical engineering industry. Chris Chao, Director of CEM Customer Services Department, extended his congratulations to the newly certified technicians in his speech, encouraged them to continue enhancing their professional competency, embracing emerging industry opportunities, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of Macao’s electrical engineering standards.

The “Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians” program integrates theoretical and practical skills assessment to comprehensively evaluate participants’ competence in electrical engineering, adherence to standardized operational procedures, and implementation of safe construction practices. To assist participants in preparing for the assessment, CEM also provided preparatory course focusing on explaining and reviewing key assessment content, helped participants to reinforce their theoretical foundation, mastered the technical assessment requirements, and further improved both their examination and practical skills capabilities.

Since its launch in 2021, the program has certified over 220 qualified electrical technicians through simulation-based training facilities and a standardized assessment scheme. This initiative has not only enhanced the safety awareness and technical capabilities of frontline technicians but also established a solid foundation for the safe and reliable operation of Macao’s power supply system.

With the advancement of smart city development, the expansion of electric vehicle charging network, and the increasing application of green energy, Macao’s power facilities are becoming increasingly complex, placing higher demands on the comprehensive technical capabilities of frontline technicians. Looking ahead, CEM will continue promoting the acquisition of relevant professional qualifications for technicians involved in power-related engineering, thereby further enhancing engineering quality and power supply stability. Meanwhile, CEM will continue to optimize its training programs and technical content in line with advancements in power technology and environmental trends and will maintain close collaboration with various sectors of society to jointly promote the development of the power engineering industry, injecting unlimited momentum into Macao’s sustainable future.
