The 13^th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Tourism Ministerial Meeting will take place in Macao from 24 to 28 June. To fully ensure the safety and stability of power supply during the meeting, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) has implemented a series of preventive and enhanced power supply measures as planned. These include on-site inspections of key locations, reviewing the operation of power supply equipment, dual-circuit power supply guarantees, connecting the mobile battery energy storage vehicle, online monitoring of system status, and implementing emergency arrangements.

Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee, earlier led the management and technical teams on-site to inspect various related facilities. He stated that “After 2014, the selection of Macao as the venue for the APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting once again holds profound significance. Its successful hosting not only reflects Macao’s capability as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure but also relates to Macao’s important image on the international stage. CEM must ensure stable power supply during the meeting and simultaneously demonstrate Macao’s high level of power supply service ability to ensure the smooth progress of the meeting.”

In response to the specific demands of the meeting, CEM has thoroughly inspected the relevant substations and power supply equipment while simultaneously optimizing the emergency plans. During the meeting period, in addition to the dual-circuit power supply system installed at key venues, CEM’s mobile battery energy storage vehicle will also provide additional uninterrupted power to the venues to ensure the stability of the power supply.

To address potential emergencies, CEM’s dedicated team will be on duty throughout the meeting period, closely monitoring the status of all power equipment to ensure any emergencies can be promptly handled. Additionally, CEM’s Power Dispatch Center is working closely with the relevant departments of the Macao SAR Government and power users to ensure swift information delivery and efficient emergency response.
