A delegation from Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM), led by Bernie Leong, Chairman of the Executive Committee, recently visited Shanghai for in-depth exchanges with Siemens Energy on sustainability and energy cooperation. The delegation was warmly received by Yao Zhenguo, Senior Vice President of Siemens Energy AG.

Bernie Leong noted that in the face of profound changes in the global energy landscape, reliable power supply represents only the baseline requirement. CEM must proactively advance its efforts in clean energy and smart grid development in order to truly stay ahead of the curve and live up to the expectations of Macao citizens. He expressed hope that both parties would strengthen collaboration across more areas, jointly navigating the opportunities and challenges brought by the energy transition, and contribute to the sustainable development of Macao.

During the visit, the delegation toured Siemens Energy’s MGT local packaging factory and the switchgear (Blue GIS) factory, and held in-depth discussions on sustainability, carbon footprint management platforms, and grid modernization, etc.

The CEM delegation also included Simon Young, Director of Transmission and Distribution Department; River Leng, Senior Manager of Primary Substation Construction and Maintenance Unit of Transmission and Distribution Department; and Billy Chu, Manager of Mechanical Maintenance of Generation Maintenance Unit of Generation Department.
