CEM Ambassadors visit the Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare to show care and compassion for furry friends
Macau, 16 April 2026
To promote the values of respecting life and caring for animals, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) Ambassadors Team recently visited the Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare (MASDAW). The event aimed to bring warmth and support to the animals, while taking practical action to raise public awareness of the welfare of stray animals and promote the concept of “adopt, don’t shop.”
It is understood that MASDAW has been dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray and abandoned dogs in Macau. Currently, the association houses over 150 dogs and 14 cats, all awaiting adoption or sponsorship by loving citizens. On the day of the event, Jaclyn Iun, Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office of CEM, along with 8 CEM Ambassadors, toured the association’s facilities under the guidance of association’s volunteer to gain a deeper understanding of its daily operations and challenges.
The association’s volunteer provided instructions on how to interact with the dogs and shared the rescue stories behind some of the furry friends. Afterward, under the volunteers’ guidance, the CEM Ambassadors took the dogs for walks in the surrounding area. Through these relaxed and heartwarming interactions, not only did the dogs feel the kindness of humans, but the CEM Ambassadors also gained a deep appreciation for the importance of protecting life. Before parting, the CEM Ambassadors donated a batch of specially selected dog food to the association, providing nutritional support tailored to the health needs of senior dogs.
During the event, Dorothy Lao from CEM’s Procurement and Logistics Department shared her reflections on being a dog-walking volunteer, “Although these dogs have been through the hardships of being stray or abandoned, I can feel their pure trust and joy when I pick up the leash and take them for a walk. I strongly encourage everyone to volunteer as a dog walker in their spare time. Not only does this help the dogs burn off energy and improve their physical and mental well-being, but it also serves as a form of emotional healing for the volunteers themselves.” Adrian Zhang from CEM’s Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office said, “Walking into the shelter and seeing the daily expenses and medical needs of over 150 dogs really brought home the hardships faced by animal welfare groups. The enthusiasm of volunteers alone is not enough to sustain these efforts in the long run; tangible support is essential. Whether through adoption or donations, these actions represent a ray of hope for the animals’ survival.”
As an integral part of the community, CEM is committed to being a green driving force for positive social development while providing stable power supply. CEM deeply understands that corporate responsibility extends beyond power supply to the pursuit of harmony between human values and the ecosystem. By supporting animal welfare efforts, CEM hopes to ignite more goodwill in society and encourage the public to collectively care for animal welfare. Looking forward, CEM will continue to organize more social activities to contribute to building a harmonious community.
