CEM Showcases Green Smart Services and Signs MOU with Three Parties at the 2026MIECF
Macau, 25 March 2026
The annual environmental event organized by the Macau SAR Government, the “2026 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2026MIECF)” will be held from 26 to 28 March at The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo. Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) is once again participating, setting up an exhibition with the theme “A New Innovative Chapter for Low-carbon Macau” in response to this year’s event theme, “Low-carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration.” CEM will comprehensively showcase a variety of green and smart power services. Additionally, to implement the concept of a green exhibition, the 2026MIECF organizer has purchased 150 megawatt-hours of Green Electricity Certificates (GECs) through CEM from China Southern Power Grid International Co., Ltd., taking concrete actions to promote low-carbon operations at the event.
During the 2026MIECF, CEM will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bank of China (Macau) Limited (BOC Macau), Banco Nacional Ultramarino, S.A. (BNU), and Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau (IDQ). The MOU will be signed by Benjamin Yue, Principal Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, Sun Min, General Manager of Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions Department of BOC Macau, Ieong Kim Man, Executive Director of BNU, and Tam Lap Mou, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IDQ. CEM will collaborate with the IDQ to develop an energy audit certification plan, providing professional consulting services to customers to enhance energy efficiency. At the same time, CEM will partner with BOC Macau and BNU to offer low-interest loans, supporting customers in implementing energy-saving solutions after completing energy audits. Through this cross-sector collaboration, CEM aims to further assist customers in implementing energy-saving and carbon reduction measures, contributing to the development of a low-carbon Macau.
CEM is continuously driving low-carbon transformation with innovative momentum and will showcase a series of green smart power services this year, including the debut of the robotic dog intelligent inspection system, electric vehicle charging network, photovoltaic system, and intelligent voice bot, etc. In addition, CEM will launch the brand-new “Green Point” Customer Reward Program at the exhibition. Through the CEM APP, customers can adopt low-carbon lifestyle practices such as using e-bills to accumulate points, which can be redeemed for electricity e-vouchers, charging e-vouchers, or exclusive CEM gifts. During the exhibition, users who visit the CEM booth can enjoy exclusive “Green Point” promotional offers, including redeeming rewards with as few as 100 points, a full points rebate, and an extra 100 points for new users. Moreover, the first 500 users who successfully complete electronic identity verification and upgrade to verified members will receive an additional 500 points. After becoming a verified member, users can earn 1.2 times the points for completing all environmental tasks, leading the way to a new green lifestyle.
CEM is actively responding to the national call and fully supporting the Macau SAR Government in achieving the “dual carbon” goals. CEM is advancing green development in three phases. Phase I (2022-2030) focuses on reaching carbon emission peaking by optimizing and adjusting the power energy development strategy, importing low-carbon and clean energy from the China Southern Power Grid, and using natural gas for local power generation. Phase II (2031-2040) aims for rapid carbon emission reduction, with the main approaches shifting to energy saving, consumption reduction, and electricity substitution. Phase III (2041-2050) targets deep decarbonization through participation in carbon sink initiatives and achieving carbon neutrality. CEM will continue to work hand in hand with all sectors of society to lay a solid foundation for a green future in Macau.
The 2026MIECF will be open to trade and industry professionals on 26 March (Thursday) from 11:00 to 18:30 and 27 March (Friday) from 10:00 to 18:00.
