The 4th Edition of CEM Clean Energy City Competition Awards Ceremony Took Place Today at Macau Science Center

CEM hosted the 4th edition of Clean Energy City Challenge Awards Ceremony at the Macau Science Center today. Themed ‘Making Macau a Sustainable City’, the Challenge aimed to draw students’ interest in environmental protection and usage of clean energies. The event was co-organized by the Macau Science Center and with the technical support of The Association for Promotion of Science & Technology of Macau. Over 300 students of 56 teams in representation of 21 local secondary schools enrolled for the Competition.
Guests of honor included Chio Loi Long, Environmental Cooperation Division Head of Environmental Protection Bureau, Sylvester Cheong, Vice-Curator of Macau Science Center, Zheng Jiezhao, Chairman of the Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Alex Choi, Executive Board Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Cecilia Nip, CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office Director.
Cecilia Nip referred in her speech that “It is encouraging to see the enthusiasm and efforts of the younger generation towards environmental protection. In fact, it is important that all of us in the society can collaborate all-along to achieve our country's dual carbon targets, to make Macau a better and more livable place.” She also highlighted that “CEM is strongly committed to developing low-carbon green electricity services. In addition to providing excellent and reliable power supply services, we also take it as our mission to support Macau's economic and social development, actively assume social responsibility and connect with the community through various types of activities.”
In collaboration with the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the top three winning entries of each category will be exhibited from 3 February to 15 March 2026 at the Juvenile Art Exhibition and Performance Hall in Macau for the public to learn about their proposals for making Macau a greener and more sustainable city.
Top 20 teams from two categories, namely F1-F3 students (Environment & Energy Conservation) and F4-F6 students (Clean Energies & Smart Technology) were selected by a panel of professional judges. During the exhibition, school teams competed for the final awards with professional judging (75%), students voting (15%), and public voting (10%). Nearly 6,000 public votes were received, clearly showing public support for the participating students and their growing interest in environmental issues.
