CEM Standardizes 10% Reduction in Public EV Charging Tariff in Support of Government Policy
Macau, 29 January 2026
In active support of the Macau SAR Government’s policy to promote green commute and the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) will implement a comprehensive reduction in public EV charging tariff starting 1 February 2026. This initiative aims to encourage citizens to opt for EVs when purchasing or replacing their cars, jointly building a green and low-carbon Macau and contributing to the national “dual-carbon” goals.
From 1 February 2026, the tariffs for various public charging services will be reduced by approximately 10%. After the adjustment, the tariff for slow charging will be MOP1.280 per kWh during low-load hours (20:00 to 09:00), and MOP1.940 per kWh during full-load hours (09:00 to 20:00). The new tariff for medium-speed charging (available 24 hours) will be MOP2.680 per kWh, while fast charging (available 24 hours) will be MOP3.100 per kWh.
In addition to adjusting the tariff of public charging services, CEM has also adjusted the rated output power for both slow and fast chargers to better align charging services with development trends.
Furthermore, to support the Macau SAR Government’s EV promotion policy and actively address societal demands for low-carbon environmental protection, CEM is planning to gradually introduce services such as safe charging for electric motorcycles via QR code scanning, and continuously enhance the EV charging network and advance technology in coordination with the Macau SAR Government’s “Pilot Scheme for Supercharging Stations for Light and Heavy Vehicles” to be launched in 2026. Concurrently, CEM continues to optimize and update the functions of the CEM APP. EV owners can now locate available charging spots in real-time and make instant payments via the CEM wallet top-up function or credit cards. The CEM APP now supports live charging status updates, allowing users to monitor charging progress directly from their mobile phone lock screens. A new “auto top-up” function has also been added to CEM wallet, ensuring sufficient balance for uninterrupted charging. Upon completion of charging, the CEM APP will proactively send a notification reminding drivers to vacate the space promptly for the next user.
In the future, CEM reaffirms its commitment to corporate social responsibility, pledging continued cooperation with the Macau SAR Government’s environmental policies to foster a greener and smarter sustainable mobility environment.
