Public vote in CEM ‘Clean Energy City Challenge’ at the Macau Science Center will have the chance to win an iPad or Apple Watch

Twenty finalist eco-projects, representing 17 local secondary schools, will be on display at the Macau Science Center from 25 to 31 January, 2026, in the 4th edition of CEM 'Clean Energy City Challenge', The Challenge aims at drawing secondary school students' interest in clean energies and sustainability and is co-organized with the Macau Science Center and with the technical support from the Macau Science & Technology Promotion Association. Public can visit from 10:00am to 6:00pm during the exhibition period to learn more about creative suggestions for an ecological Macau and vote for their favorite projects with the chance to win an iPad or Apple Watch.
The top 20 entries competing for the final awards were selected by a professional judging panel comprising representatives from Macau Science Center, Macau Science & Technology Promotion Association, Environmental Protection Bureau, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Chinese Educators Association of Macau and CEM. Their evaluation will account for 75% and public vote will account for 10% of the final score, while students' vote accounts for 15%.
The projects developed by the students cover a wide range of spectrum. For example, smart recreation areas, green campus, smart aviation system, smart building vs traditional building, waves and wind power, low-carbon shared activity center, smart bus stations, integrated green hydrogen energy for smart cities, solar-powered smart bin, intelligent photovoltaic system, etc.
The Challenge comprises two groups, one group of F1-F3 students participating in the ‘Environment & Energy Conservation’ category to develop ideas to use energy in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way, another group of F4-F6 students participating in the ‘Clean Energies & Smart Technology’ category to propose ideas to design smart products, services or installations that integrate clean energy infrastructures in Macau or in the Greater Bay Area. Total 56 teams from 21 schools enrolled.
