CEM Responds to Giving Tuesday by Visiting the Elderly and Donating Clothing to Spread Love

Macau, 2 December 2025

In response to the international initiative ‘Giving Tuesday,’ Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) Ambassadors Team recently launched a series of charitable activities. These included organizing staff donations of clothing, books and toys, as well as visiting seniors at the Complexo de Serviços de Apoio Ao Cidadão Sénior Retribuição. Through these actions, CEM aimed to care for vulnerable groups in the community and spread warmth and positive energy.

Giving Tuesday is a global charitable initiative that encourages people to give back to society on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving each year. Through donations, volunteering, or material contributions, it aims to support those in need and promote the spirit that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’ To date, the campaign has garnered participation from over a hundred countries and regions.

CEM launched its “Used Clothes and Toys Donation Campaign” in November, collecting garments and toys from all staff members for donation to disadvantaged communities. The campaign yielded substantial quantities of clothing, toys and stationery, achieving remarkable results. All items were donated to the Salvation Army Macau to assist those in need and facing financial hardship in easing their burdens. This donation not only gave new life to unused items but also embodied the environmental philosophy of resource recycling, contributing to environmental protection.

Beyond the donation of items, Hellen Lok, Director of Human Resources and Sustainability Department and Jaclyn Iun, Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office of CEM, accompanied by 8 CEM Ambassadors, recently visited 30 seniors at the Complexo de Serviços de Apoio Ao Cidadão Sénior Retribuição. The Ambassadors engaged in warm and heartfelt conversations with the seniors, listening to their life stories and experiences, and participated in interactive games together, filling the venue with a joyful atmosphere. The Ambassadors also prepared practical gifts to convey their heartfelt greetings and concern to the elderly residents, reminding them to keep warm and take good care of their health.

As an integral part of the community, CEM has consistently upheld the principle of ‘taking from society and giving back to society’, actively fulfilling its commitment to corporate social responsibility and supporting community needs through concrete actions. This participation in ‘Giving Tuesday’ fully demonstrates CEM’s long-standing dedication to social welfare and its resolve to care for vulnerable groups in Macau. Looking ahead, CEM will continue to promote volunteer initiatives, collaborating with more organizations to contribute towards building a harmonious society.
