CEM Presents Nine Papers at CEPSI to Share Its High-Quality Development Achievements

Singapore, 30 October 2025

A delegation of 17 representatives from Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) attended the 25th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI 2025) held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore from 28 October to 1 November.

CEPSI is a flagship event of the power industry in Asia, held biennially. It aims to provide a knowledge exchange and cooperation platform for the power industry in the Asia-Pacific region, share research results related to the power industry, and further promote relevant technological development. As the most influential non-governmental organization in the power industry in the East Asia and Western Pacific region, the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP) currently has nearly 70 official members from 18 countries and regions, with CEM being one of its key members.

This edition was co-hosted by AESIEAP and SP Group in Singapore, themed “Empowering the Energy Transition.”  It aims to empower the entire energy ecosystem, promote cross-border collaboration, and lead actions toward energy transition and net-zero emissions. The conference attracted over 4,000 participants, including heads of major energy companies, analysts, consultants, engineers, industry professionals, and government officials, who gathered to exchange ideas and discuss globally relevant topics such as energy transition, smart grids, digitalization, and sustainable development.

At CEPSI 2025, CEM presented nine papers. The speakers and topics included: Oscar Wong from the Customer Services Department and Henry Ho from the Power and Networks Dispatch Department introduced “Exploration of smart services and smart grid in Macau based on CEM AMI”. From the Generation Department, Kane Lu shared “Challenges from Migration of Carbon Free Fuel – Hydrogen in Macau”, while Jimmy Leong discussed “Feasibility Study of Nearshore Offshore Wind Power Development in Macau Under Dual Carbon Targets”. Kitty Ieong from the Power and Networks Dispatch Department and Maggie Lei from the Customer Services Department jointly presented “Building a Reliable and Secure Communication Environment for Electric Vehicle Charging Networks in Macau”, while Oscar Chan presented “Hybrid Applications of Broadband Over Power Line Communication (BPLC) and Wireless 5.5G in MV Substation Power Communication Fiber Network”. From the Transmission and Distribution Department, Eric So introduced “Digital transformation of Power Network Work Management with Modern Work Platform and AI Image Detection Solution”, Chao Chi Man and Yuen Kin Tong discussed “Improving Reliability and Maintainability of IEC61850-based Digital Control Systems for Power Substations: A Review of Maintenance Records, Operation Challenges, Integration of Advanced Remote Terminal Units and Standardization efforts”, Filly Wu shared “Application of Mobile Battery Energy Storage System for Critical Events in Macau”, and Alex Fong presented “Synergistic Development and Opportunities of Underground Power Cable and Common Service Tunnel in Macau”.

Other representatives attending the conference included Jeff Jiang, Director of Generation Department; Jane Leong, Director of Transmission and Distribution Department (Business Development); Evan Liu, Director of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; Cecilia Nip, Director of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office, and Kyle Lei, Functional Head of Customer Substation & Electricity Connection Unit of Transmission and Distribution Department, among others.

Energy transition and sustainable development have become global trends. Facing the challenges of net-zero carbon emission targets, power companies should actively explore innovative technologies and solutions to promote green and low-carbon development in the industry. The attending delegation members all expressed that they gained valuable insights, which will help CEM continue to innovate and improve quality, moving toward a sustainable future.
