Today, Bernie Leong, Chairman of Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) Executive Committee, led the company’s management team to visit the thematic exhibition “For National Liberation and World Peace — Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War,” hosted by the Macau SAR Government and co-organized by the Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The exhibition meticulously presents precious historical images and archival materials, systematically showcasing the bravery and resilience of the Chinese nation during the 14-year War of Resistance. Not only does it profoundly illustrate the great historical significance of the victory, but it also guides viewers to reflect deeply on the contemporary value of peaceful development and promotes the spirit of patriotism.
Following the visit, Bernie Leong stated, “National memory is the spiritual bond that maintains social cohesion. Today marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance. This morning, the military parade held at Tiananmen Square was awe-inspiring. The nation’s strength and technological progress are exhilarating. This is not only a demonstration of comprehensive national power but also a solemn commitment to world peace. Visiting this themed exhibition has further deepened our understanding of this period of history. CEM has always adhered to the principle that ‘corporate development is closely tied to the destiny of the nation.’ We deeply understand that enterprises can truly fulfill their social responsibilities only in a stable national environment. Organizing employees to learn about the history of the War of Resistance helps to deepen their understanding of the nation’s journey to rejuvenation, which will then transfer into practical actions in their respective roles to contribute to the society.”
As a responsible public utility enterprise, CEM has always focused on cultivating and enhancing employees’ comprehensive qualities while actively guiding them to participate in social initiatives. The company’s management recognizes that sustainable development requires not only technological innovation and management optimization but also fostering employees’ sense of identification with the nation and society. This exhibition serves as both an immersive history lesson and a profound inspiration, playing a significant role in enhancing employees’ awareness of national security and social responsibility.
To further promote the deep integration of corporate culture and social responsibility, CEM organizes employees to visit the exhibition in groups starting from 3 September, the anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance. Through this immersive learning experience, employees will be able to gain a deeper appreciation for the hard-won peace and transform this understanding into practical actions in their work, committing with greater enthusiasm to fulfilling civic responsibilities and jointly safeguarding social stability and public safety.
