Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) and the University of Macau (UM) recently held the closing ceremony for the 2025 CEM Summer Training Program at the Student Activity Centre Theatre on UM’s Hengqin campus, marking a successful conclusion to this enriching and fruitful internship journey.

This year’s program welcomed 18 UM students from diverse academic backgrounds. They were assigned to various core departments of CEM for internships, covering areas such as customer services, finance, engineering, sustainability and corporate communications. Through the internship, students gained valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the operational model of Macau's power system. In addition to technical learning, the students also participated in the “CEM Energizing Tour”, where professionals provided on-site guidance, explanations, and shared their experiences, broadening the students’ industry perspectives and further deepening their understanding of CEM’s core business and industry development trends.

On the day of the ceremony, Benjamin Yue, Principal Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, along with CEM’s management team, UM representatives and internship mentors, attended the event, creating a lively atmosphere. In his speech, Benjamin Yue highly praised the outstanding performance of this year’s interns and stated that, “CEM and UM have been working hand in hand for over 30 years to nurture talent and promote innovation. This year’s Summer Training Program concluded successfully, with students demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impression.”

Professor Gong Zhiguo, Interim Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UM, also delivered a speech at the ceremony. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to CEM for its long-term support in providing internship opportunities for students and fully acknowledged the positive role the internship program plays in promoting students’ career development and enhancing their overall qualities. He encouraged the students to continue learning and to face future challenges with confidence, resilience, and a proactive mindset.

The CEM Summer Training Program is one of CEM’s key initiatives under CEM’s talent development strategy, reflecting its commitment to cultivating local professionals in engineering, sustainability, and innovation. CEM remains committed to nurturing local young talent, promoting the transfer of knowledge and skills to drive sustainable development in Macau.
