CEM holds the 4th Rummikub Competition and raises funds for the Macau Deaf Association

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) once again joints hands with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions and the General Volunteers Association of Macao to organize the Rummikub Competition. Since its launch, the competition has been well received by the public. This year marks the fourth edition. Last year, over 800 people enrolled, with participants aged between 8 to 93 years old. Rummikub is suitable for all ages and is perfect for people of different generations to compete at the same table, enhancing interaction and communication. All proceeds from the competition will be donated to the Macau Deaf Association without deduction of expenses. CEM hopes to raise awareness and care for the deaf community, deepen understanding, promote mutual acceptance, and foster an inclusive society.
The Rummikub Competition 2025 will be held at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 18 October (Saturday). The competition is divided into two groups, the School Group and the Open Group. The School Group is for students from Primary 1 to Form 6, with enrollment through schools, and a total of 40 teams will be accepted. The Open Group is open to Macau residents aged 6 or above to join, with a quota of 160 participants. If the number of enrollments exceeds the quota, participants will be selected by computer random draw. Minors aged 6-12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Admitted participants must pay a competition fee of MOP100 while the School Group, people aged under 18 and 65 years old or above, and people who are holding a valid Beneficiary Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) will be sponsored by CEM. The enrollment is open from now till 17 September 2025 (Wednesday), and the entry list will be announced on CEM Facebook fan page on 23 September (Tuesday). Admitted participants will be notified by email and SMS.
This year, in addition to the Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up and Merit Awards, two new awards have been added in each group, which are the Fourth Place and the Most Games Won Award. The awards and prizes for the School Group are: one winner for Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, and Fourth Place, who will receive a cash prize of MOP2,000, MOP1,500, MOP1,000, MOP800 and a trophy respectively. Each of the five Merit Award winners will receive MOP500 cash prize and a trophy. One winner will receive the Most Games Won Award, which includes a cash prize of MOP 1,000 and a trophy. On the other hand, the awards and prizes for the Open Group are: one winner for Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, and Fourth Place, who will receive a cash prize of MOP3,000, MOP2,000, MOP1,500, MOP1,000 and a trophy respectively. Each of the five Merit Award winners will receive MOP800 cash prize and a trophy. One winner will receive the Most Games Won Award, which includes a cash prize of MOP 1,500 and a trophy.
