On 27 July, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) was invited to attend the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2025) held in Shanghai and delivered a keynote speech titled “Practical Applications of Artificial Intelligence in CEM” at the “AI+” Power Innovation Forum, sharing CEM’s innovative practices in the field of artificial intelligence with experts and audience from around the world. Benjamin Yue, Principal Advisor to the Executive Committee of CEM, delivered the speech on behalf of CEM, in which he provided detailed insights into CEM’s digital transformation and Smart Grid 2.0 planning, as well as the practical applications of artificial intelligence technologies at CEM, including AI voice bots, analyzing meter image with artificial intelligence, and smart protection relay setting, etc. These showcased CEM’s comprehensive layout and fruitful achievements in intelligent transformation.

The WAIC 2025 was held in Shanghai from 26 to 28 July. Since its inception in 2018, the conference has been successfully held for seven editions and has gradually grown into the most influential industry event in the global artificial intelligence field. The “AI+” Power Innovation Forum, hosted by WAIC strategic partner China Southern Power Grid (CSG), focused on the deep application of artificial intelligence in the energy and power sector and ecosystem construction. The forum brought together core forces from the entire industry chain, including power generation groups, grid operators, equipment manufacturers, and ecosystem technology companies, etc., to share cutting-edge practical cases and overseas expansion experiences, and to explore in-depth the construction of an open and collaborative energy AI ecosystem.

CEM has been committed to using advanced technologies to provide reliable, safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly energy services for Macau. Through participating in the WAIC, CEM demonstrated its practical experience in AI technology applications while engaging in in-depth technical exchanges and learning with international peers, contributing Macau’s experience to promoting the intelligent development of the power industry. CEM will continue to deepen the application of artificial intelligence technology in the power industry, continuously improving the quality of power supply services and operational efficiency, and providing more reliable and intelligent power assurance for the socio-economic development of Macau.
