CEM introduces the "Guidelines for Customer Electrical Installations" to electrical engineering industry

Macau, 20 March 2025

In order to ensure the construction quality of customers electrical installations, CEM will issue the "Guidelines for Customer Electrical Installations" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines"). CEM held a sharing session at the CEM Building earlier, inviting representatives from the electrical engineering industry, including The Macau lnstitute of Engineers, the Macao Institution of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, the Macau Electromechanics Professionals Association, the Macau Association of Building Contractors and Developers and the Macau Construction Association, to attend the session to introduce the Guidelines in detail and collect opinions.

CEM representatives attending the session included: Cecilia Nip, Director of CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office; Gabriel Chan, Technical Services Management Senior Manager of Customer Services Department; Freddie Tang, Technical Services Management Functional Head of Customer Services Department; José Lam, Technical Services Management Customer Consultant and Tommy Cheong, Technical Services Management Engineer of CEM Customer Services Department.

At the meeting, Freddie Tang used infographics to illustrate the specific construction-related requirements of the Guidelines. He introduced that the Guidelines will supplement the on-site construction requirements for customer electrical installations in the "CEM Norm" (NCEM), explain the basic requirements for power network access points in customer electrical installations, list the test and inspection records required to be provided before power supply for new building electrical installations, and clarify the inspection standards of CEM for customer electrical installations, as well as provide common reasons for failed inspection for the industry's reference. The representatives also provided opinions and suggestions to CEM on behalf of their respective associations.

CEM hopes that through this Guidelines, the electrical engineering industry in Macau can clearly understand the widely accepted construction standards, and make CEM's engineering inspection work more transparent, thereby ensuring the safety and stability of power supply for customer electrical installations. In the future, CEM will continuously share updated and applicable construction methods with the electrical engineering industry through this Guidelines, and provide common problems found by CEM during the inspection of customer electrical installations for the industry's attention, in order to make the construction and inspection process smoother.
