CEM invites 300 Taipa and Coloane senior citizens to luncheon for celebration of Pak Tai’s Birthday

CEM jointly organized a Lunch Gathering with Senior Citizens with Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee at Largo de Camoes in Taipa (in front of Pak Tai Temple) at 12:00 noon today to celebrate Pak Tai’s Birthday. About 300 senior citizens from Taipa and Coloane were invited to join the celebration with CEM Ambassadors Team members.

CEM has organized the event for the 15th consecutive year with the support of the Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee, aiming to acknowledge senior citizens' contributions to the society. The event aims to promote harmony of the community and carry forward the tradition of respecting & caring for the elderly while preserving the traditional culture of celebrating Pak Tai’s Birthday

Honorable guests who attended the gathering include Zheng Yi Cheng, Assistant of Social Work Department of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macau SAR; Andy Lei, Principal Consultant Senior Technician of the Office for the Development of Energy Sector; Ma Weng Chio, Division Head of Workshops and Warehouses of Department of Municipal Construction of Municipal Affairs Bureau; Kam Kit Leng, Division Head of Senior Service Division of Social Welfare Bureau; Vong Kok Seng and Lei Chi Fong, President and Vice President of CEM Customer Liaison Committee; Ip Chi Wo, Vice President of General Residents Association; Chan Kam Meng, President of Macau Federation of Trade Unions; Si Nei Na and Lam Ka Chun, Deputy Conveners of the Community Services Consultative Committee of Island District; Liu Sui, President of Association of Residents of Taipa; Cheong Kuok Choi, President of the Ká-Hó Residents Association; Leong Kun Fong, President of Laborers Association of Coloane Workers; Sam Iok Ha, President of Association of Residents of Coloane; Iun Ioc Va, Director of the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macau; Leong Chong In, Chief of the Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee; Shi Yulin, CEM Executive Director and Iun Iok Meng, Advisor to CEM Executive Committee.

In his speech, Shi Yulin expressed thanks to Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee and the support from the Taipa and Coloane Residents Association and other co-organizing associations. Shi paid tribute to senior citizens for their contribution to Macau community over the years. He said senior citizens have profound life experience and their contribution in the past has paved the way for the progress today. In addition to express the care and blessings to senior citizens, CEM hopes to spread the spirit of respecting, loving and caring the elderly, and take the opportunity to learn valuable life experiences and wisdom from the elderly. As a responsible corporate citizen, CEM has always been committed to giving back to the community through education, charity, social services and diversified activities. CEM set up CEM Ambassadors Team in 2004. The volunteering team has worked closely with different local associations over the past years including Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Services, Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop, World Vision Macau Office and Macau Federation of Trade Unions. They sent warmth and blessings to the underprivileged and the needy during festivals and invited them to outing, gathering and movies.

Before the luncheon, doctors and nurses of CEM Occupational Health Services Center provided blood pressure measuring and health consultation service for the elderly. There were lucky draws and games during the Lunch. Meanwhile, CEM Ambassadors Team members and the elderly delivered stage performances to entertain the participants. Finally, honorable guests and CEM Ambassadors Team presented lai-see and gifts to the elderly amidst joyful ambience.
