CEM’s smart streetlight showcased at Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition

Macau, 27 March 2019

As always, CEM actively participates in the major annual environmental event “2019 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2019 MIECF)”. Under MIECF’s theme “Promoting Ecological Civilization and Green Development”, CEM showcases a number of projects that are related to smart city development.

Apart from Electric Vehicle Charging Network, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Common Services Tunnel (CST) and CEM e-Service App, Model of Smart Streetlight is also showcased for the first time as the highlight. This lamp post installed in the centre of CEM’s booth is approximately 1:2 of the actual size, 4 meters tall and fully functional. There are onsite demonstration and explanation about the features.

Amid the global development trend of smart city, major cities are introducing smart streetlight systems one after another. The functions of smart streetlight include examining energy consumption to save energy and collecting real-time information about the city, such as real-time traffic, measurement data, air quality, temperature monitoring and so forth, providing more valuable data for the city. Smart streetlights can realize overall monitoring and management on the city’s environmental quality, safety of public areas and publicity of instant messages, so as to improve the development level of new smart city as well as provide basic support for the construction of perceptive network.

CEM has been actively working with the Macau SAR Government to launch the smart streetlight pilot project, in which smart streetlights will be first installed and tested at Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro, University of Macau Hengqin Campus and Avenida da Amizade. Installation is expected to be completed in April and preliminary testing will be carried out. The three smart streetlights at Avenida da Amizade have been set up on 11th March and the lighting function has been activated. Each streetlight has various features. During testing period, all relevant departments will be invited to participate in the demonstration of the functions. At present, the existing equipment includes LED lamps, environmental sensors, public information display monitor, tourism information interactive screen and public information mini-speaker. Other functional devices will be imported and installed after being approved by the relevant authorizing entity.
