CEM holds lunch gathering with nearly 300 senior citizens of Taipa and Coloane for the seventh consecutive year

CEM held a lunch gathering at Largo Camões in front of the Pak Tai Temple in Taipa on 1 April 2011. Nearly 300 senior citizens from the Taipa and Coloane community were invited to share some good times with staff and executives from CEM.

Honorable guests attending the gathering included Huang Huagai, Division Chief of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office Social Work Department, Mak Kim Meng, Member of the Administrative Council of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Elsa Lam, Chief of the Social Welfare Bureau Elderly Service Department, Leong Sio Kai, Chief of the Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee, Chiang Chong Sek, President of Macao Federations of Trade Unions, Lei Chi Fong, Vice-President of CEM Customer Liaison Committee, Yuen Iok Va and Sin Chi Ieong, Deputy Conveners of the Community Services Consultative Committee of Island District, Yuen Tze Wing, Chairman of Association of Residents of Taipa, Liu Sui, President of Association of Residents of Taipa, Sam Iok Ha, President of Association of Residents of Coloane, Cheong Kuok Choi, President of the Ká-Hó Residents Association, CEM Executive Directors João Travassos da Costa and Jorge Vieira.

CEM Customer Services Department Senior Manager Keegan Cheang stated in his speech that respect and care for elders are Chinese cultural tradition, thus, CEM adhere to the community each year to do charity work, with particular attention to the lives of the elderly. CEM hopes to enjoy this event with senior citizens of the Taipa and Coloane community.

He said that CEM has set up a new customer service centre in Taipa to provide comprehensive power services to residents and stores in Taipa and welcomed citizens’ precious opinions to improve its customer services and build a more bright future for Macao.

Keegan expressed gratitude to the civic associations and organizations that helped to organize the event, as well as CEM Ambassadors Team members. He said that CEM will continue to contribute to the community to acknowledge the support of various sectors. He also wished senior citizens good health.

This is already the seventh consecutive year that CEM has celebrated the Pak Tai’s festival with senior citizens from the Islands. Since CEM has received an overwhelming amount of support for the event during the past six years, the company decided to run the event again this year. Before the luncheon, CEM Ambassadors Team members accompanied the elders to pay a visit to Coloane Power Station. During the luncheon, CEM Ambassadors performed nostalgic songs for the senior citizens, creating a joyous atmosphere for the entire event. Apart from that, CEM Executive Committee members distributed Laisee and souvenirs to the seniors. All participants expressed thanks to CEM for the luncheon.
