CEM Energy Fun Fair will be held this Sunday at Tap Seac Square

CEM is going to hold the 15th edition of Energy Fun Fair on Sunday, 21 January, 2018 at Tap Seac Square, from 11:00am to 4:30pm. The event was rescheduled from last October due to typhoon. Collaborative parties include Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Youth and Education Affairs Bureau and Energy Sector Development Office. With the theme “Build Your Smart Home, Use Appliances Efficiently”, thirteen local secondary schools will take part in the event. The Fair with lots of prizes including ‘iPad mini 4’, ‘Nintendo SWITCH’, limited edition of Power Buddies Sports Towel, and many more will be opened for children up to 16 years old.
CEM Energy Fun Fair has become very popular among students and public. CEM aims to enhance the interest and knowledge of the citizens, especially the young generation, about electricity and its efficient and safe usage. In this year’s edition the theme is set to promote the experience of the smart home concept, seeking at educating the youngsters to use electrical appliances at home in a more efficient and easy way, thus contributing to conserve more energy and ultimately help to protect the environment.
The thirteen local secondary schools participating include the Macau Portuguese School, Xin Hua School, Yuet Wah College (English Section), Tong Sin Tong Middle School, Ling Nam Middle School, Sacred Heart Canossian College (English Section), Santa Rosa de Lima English Secondary, Pui Ching Middle School, Kwong Tai Middle School, Pui Tou Middle School, Millenium Secondary School, Fong Chong School of Taipa, and Our Lady of Fatima Girl’s School.
Following the proposed theme, the students will compete in four different contests. They will design a game booth for the public’s learning and interaction and compete for the “Best Booth Design Contest”. Plus, students will create an art piece for exhibition, by using solely recycled electric components. They will also show their talents and creativity by joining a ‘Talents Contest’. Students will also form cheering groups to cheer for their schools to win the “Best Cheering Group”.
Children can play at the game booths and win various CEM’s prizes including an ‘iPad mini 4’, ‘Nintendo SWITCH’, Power Buddies Sports Towel, recycle bag, Power Boy folder and many more.
Moreover, a ‘Recycling Workshop’ will be at display to encourage the youngsters to recycle plastic bottles from their daily consumed beverages to make useful utensils to be used at home and at school.
Another booth is dedicated to showcase the advantages of the electric vehicles (EV) in comparison with conventional cars. Citizens can find useful information about the EV charging stations in the city and a video showing how to use the charge stations. CEM EV will also be displayed for people to have a closer look.
