Result announcement for CEM “E-bill Grand Lucky Draw”

28 April 2016, Macau

To foster environmental protection and encourage Macau citizens to receive electricity bills with e-bill service, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) launched “E-bill Grand Lucky Draw” from last September to 18 March 2016. Receiving electricity bills in e-form is not only more convenient and environmentally-friendly, but also helps reduce the use of paper. The activity was well received by the public with more than 1,000 residential customers successfully switched from paper bills to e-bills.

“E-bill Grand Lucky Draw” featured fabulous prizes, including Apple Sport Watch, Hong Kong Disneyland 1-day tickets and round-trip jetfoil tickets for 4 persons, Fujifilm Instax SHARE SP-1 wireless photo printers and supermarket cash coupons. Moreover, customers who applied for SEPBox at the same time automatically entered the lucky draw held by Macao Post, with the chance to win 2014 Macau Annual Album and Macau Philatelic Album.

Iun Iok Meng said that environmental protection and combating global warming are the globally concerned subjects. Although the Lucky Draw has been concluded, he hoped that citizens can continue to use e-bill service. Researches show that it takes 17 trees with an average age of 20 to produce one metric ton of paper. In addition, over 240kg of carbon dioxide is emitted in the process of production, which means that every 5,000 customers switching to e-bills can save one big tree each month. Nowadays, most of the citizens have smartphones, they can simply download CEM e-Service App to check their bills anytime, anywhere. It is very convenient. Through this campaign, CEM aimed to enhance the public’s environmental awareness and encourage citizens to treasure electricity and paper resources. In the future, CEM will launch more environmental activities, hoping citizens to take active participation.
