To let the young generation realize electricity and local power generation as well as to understand the important role of electricity played in everyday life, CEM will hold “Experience Life without Electricity Camp” for the first time this August, enabling youngsters to understand the importance of treasuring energy and make the best use of the earth resources. Electricity is readily available nowadays, its ubiquity and convenience make us forget to cherish power resources. In the Camp, participants will stay in an electricity-free environment at Coloane Power Station, which will not only allow youngsters to learn about knowledge of electricity, but also give them an opportunity to exercise their team spirit. The activity is co-organized by Macao Scout Association, Women’s Association of Macau and Youth Center of Macao Federation of Trade Unions.

Form 4 to Form 6 Macau full-time secondary school students are welcome to participate in the Camp with a team of five to six people, totaling a maximum of 48 participants in eight teams. Members of each team can be formed by students from different schools. Activities in the Camp include to understand the power generation process and local generation, visit the facilities of CEM, learn about the method of dealing with power outage, play challenge games between teams and share the experience in the Camp.

In addition to receive a completion certificate and a set of souvenir, all participants will have chance to win awards, namely the “Overall Performance Awards”: one Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up with cash prizes of MOP4,000, MOP2,000 and MOP1,000, respectively. Other awards include “Best Teamwork Award” and “Loving Care Award”, winners will receive Taiwan round-trip tickets for two as well as two sets of Hong Kong Disneyland ticket plus round-trip jetfoil tickets, respectively. Applicants should fill out the application form and declaration form, together with ID copies, submit to CEM through one of the following channels: e-submission (email to powerboy@cem-macau.com), in person or by post, indicating “To Communications and Public Affairs Office, CEM Building; Address: Edifício CEM, Estrada D.
