CEM holds “Guangdong-Macau Economic Cooperation Seminar” again for its employees

In a bid to enhance employees’ understanding of national conditions, as well as the economy and development policies of Guangdong-Macau cooperation, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM), with the assistance of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, held the “Guangdong-Macau Economic Cooperation Seminar” again for its staff recently. The first Seminar was jointly held with Guangdong Institute of Public Administration for senior management in last May and was well received, attendees expressed that more employees should realize the national conditions and policies. Therefore, the Seminar was extended to other employees who are not familiar with Mandarin. The delivered language in this Seminar was English, so that participated staff can have a better understanding on the content. CEM management included Benjamin Yue and Iun Iok Meng, Principal Advisor and Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, also attended to support the Seminar.

In his speech, Benjamin Yue expressed gratitude to the Liaison Office in Macau SAR for its assistance, which contributed to the successful organization of this Seminar. The rich contents of the Seminar held in last May enabled participants to learn about the current national situation, economic policies of Macau SAR under the one-country-two-system policy, ways to give play to opportunities from Guangdong-Macau cooperation, outlook for Macau, and so forth. All participants said that they had benefited from the Seminar. Through holding the Seminar again, Yue hopes that CEM employees from different departments can have insight into the cooperative strategies between Mainland China and Macau. While coordinating with Macau’s overall economic development, CEM employees could give full play to its professional team spirit in providing stable power supply and excellent customer services to Macau residents, and jointly contributing to the economic planning and development of China and Macau SAR.

The half-day Seminar was conducted by Derek Meun, Assistant of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, contents included the significant role of the Silk Roads in the past and present, the Belt and Road Initiative, the close-tie between the 13th Five-Year Plan and the economic and social development of Macau, as well as the influence brought by the establishment of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank on future global development.
