CEM Ambassadors Visit Disadvantaged Groups before Mid-Autumn Festival

2 September 2014, Macau

CEM has long been dedicated to fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities by proactively organizing different activities to care about the communities, and providing various support for the disadvantaged. As the Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, CEM organized a visit for around a dozen ambassadors to Fuhong Society of Macau and Richmond Fellowship of Macau today, in a bid to send the warmest regards to the disadvantaged and provide them with a joyous festival.

CEM Ambassadors kicked off the campaign by paying a visit to more than 130 members of Pou Choi Centre of Fuhong Society of Macau. The Pou Choi Centre is specifically established to provide the mentally handicapped adults with occupational skills training and employment services, in order to help them unleash their potential and fit into the society. The centre offers a wide range of services and facilities including, but not limited to, workshop, laundry, training room, social club as well as a division for occupational therapy assessment.

CEM Ambassadors then visited the members of the Richmond Fellowship of Macau, which is a non-profit welfare organization registered with the Social Welfare Bureau, providing ex-mentally ill patients with a wide range of community support services, such as accommodation, vocational training, as well as social and recreational activities.

To spice up the event, the Ambassadors and the members of the two centers jointly sang a number of famous songs. There was also a game in which the winners will be awarded a gift by CEM. Ambassadors wrapped the day by giving daily necessities to the members as a token of the warmest regards and blessing. All Ambassadors were glad to be able to partake in such a meaningful activity for a good cause.

Advisor to CEM Executive Committee Iun Iok Meng and Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager Cecilia Nip also partook in the activity in addition to about a dozen Ambassadors from CEM.

With the spirit to care about social issues and serve the community in mind, CEM has long been contributing to society by all means. All staff members are encouraged to care about the underprivileged through active participation in public welfare activities. It is of utmost significance to provide the underprivileged with timely assistance which caters for their needs, including seminars on household electricity safety and energy conservation, free inspection and maintenance services on electrical devices for the families in need, and orphanage and elderly centre visits during festive holidays.
