CEM and Macau Federation of Trade Unions organized two seminars

To share the knowledge of energy saving and safety, strengthen the promotion of maintenance of public electrical installations of buildings, as well as introduce CEM’s customer services to the residents of Macau North District, CEM and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions jointly held two seminars themed “Energy Saving and Safety” at its Toi San Community Center and North District Integrated Services Centre on 12 and 25 June respectively, with around two hundred citizens in attendance.

The seminars were attended by Macau Federation of Trade Unions North District Worker Services Centre Director Lai Sao Ieng, Toi San Community Center Director Siu Siu Man, North District Integrated Services Centre Deputy Director Tang Ieng Nam, CEM Customer Services Department Senior Manager Keegan Cheang, CEM Customer Services Department Customer Contact Management Manager Jane Leong and CEM Communications and Public Affairs Office Manager Jaclyn Iun. Lai Sao Ieng said that she is very pleased to invite CEM staff to impart knowledge about energy saving and safety to residents at Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ two centers in North District. She hopes that a variety of energy-saving measures introduced and shared by the CEM staff can help residents make some changes in their habits to achieve energy conservation, which will not only save money, but also contribute to environmental protection. Siu Siu Man said that safe use of electricity is very important. Read from the newspapers in recent years, some fire accidents occurred in buildings were caused by illegal installation of public electric box and lack of inspection and maintenance. Therefore, public electrical installation must be checked and repaired regularly to prevent accidents.

Keegan Cheang and Jane Leong said that as CEM had attached great importance to the residents in North District, it held the seminar to strengthen communication with the customers in North District, and encourage them to save energy and select appropriate and safe electrical appliances. Meanwhile, understanding the importance of maintenance and management of public power facilities is crucial so that citizens’ daily lives will not be affected due to the lack of maintenance.

At the two seminars, Jaclyn Iun also called on residents to participate in “Residential Energy Saving Contest” respectively. The judging criteria are based on the electricity consumption during the six consecutive billing months from May to October in 2014 as compared with the same period in 2013. Cash prizes for winners of Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in “Residential Group” have been increased to MOP5,000, MOP3,000 and MOP2,000 respectively. In addition, five Excellence Awards will be presented with cash prize of MOP1,000 each. At the seminars, Customer Services Department Customer Contact Management Officer Joyce Lao and Assistant Officer Ryan Chan promoted the company’s e-service, mobile App and introduced about the government’s electricity subsidy scheme. Customer Services Department Metering Services Engineer Sin Ka Man, Clark Tang and Technical Assistant Andrew Choi introduced “Maintenance and Management of Public Electrical Installations” and “Household Energy Saving and Safety”.

At the end of each seminar, CEM prepared a prize quiz and the attendees actively answered the questions, which brought a warm atmosphere to the seminars.
