CEM has been always striving to promote energy saving and environmental protection. To align with the Energy Saving Contest launched for promoting the message on energy saving, CEM co-organizes with Office for the Energy Development Sector again to hold the “Experience Sharing Seminar on Energy Saving” on which the representatives from hotel industry can share their best practices and experience on energy saving. Nearly 70 industry insiders attended the seminar.

The seminar was held at Macau Science Center from 15:00 to 17:00 on 9 June 2014 with the theme of “New Trend of Sustainable Energy Saving Applications”. In the welcoming speech, CEM Executive Director Jorge Vieira said that CEM has been organizing “Macau Energy Saving Contest” since 2009. Over 50 million kWh of power has been saved during the past five years, of which the hotel category has remarkably saved over 37 million kWh. Despite a growing number of tourists, the hospitality industry manages to lower the power consumption, proving the industry is highly concerned over the energy conservation and is actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Jorge Vieira was pleased to have the presence of the representatives of four local hotels to be the speakers and share their successful experience on saving energy. CEM hopes to build a platform for the industry players to exchange and share the know-how and experience in energy saving on equipment or operation in order to make Macau greener. Besides, he also expressed his hope that the participants in every category can make bigger achievements this year.

At the end, he also encouraged all the participants to take part in the “Residential Energy Saving Contest ” to make contribution to Macau’s environment along with their families.

In the seminar, Antonio Chan, MEP Plant Operation Engineering Assistant Vice President of Galaxy made presentation on the “Galaxy New Trend of Sustainable Energy Saving Applications”. Joshua Ho, Executive Director of Property Services of City of Dreams introduced “Engagement on Green Project in Hospitality industry”. Tiger Wong, Director of Engineering of Casa Real Hotel briefed about “A little step and experience less waste”. Andes Wan, Chief Engineer of Macau Lan Kwai Fong introduced “Equilibrium Between Hotel Operation and Energy Saving System”.

In the Q & A session, CEM Customer Services Department Senior Manager Keegan Cheang and the speakers answered questions and shared the experience interactively with the participants. All the attendants proactively made in-depth discussion and exchanged their experience on energy saving issues.

Guests attended the seminar also included Chan Chi Kin, Senior Technician of Environmental Protection Bureau, Lei Chi Fong, Vice-President of CEM Customer Liaison Committee and João Ramos, Chairman of Macau Energy Saving Association, CLC members Tam Vai Kuen, Cheang Io Tung and Ada Chan.
