CEM and Macau Federation of Trade Unions jointly hold Seminar on Energy Saving and Safety

CEM organizes “Macau Energy Saving Contest”, “Energy Fun Fair” and other activities every year to promote environmental protection and energy saving. Macau Federation of Trade Unions also holds events like Energy-saving Carnival, so as to enhance the public awareness of energy conservation. CEM and the Taipa Integrated Services Centre of Macau Federation of Trade Unions jointly organized an “Energy Saving and Safety Seminar” at the Center in the night on 5 June, with more than 80 members of the association in attendance.

The Seminar was chaired by Director of the Taipa Integrated Services Centre of Macau Federation of Trade Unions Leong Meng Ian, Advisor to CEM Executive Committee Iun Iok Meng and Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager Cecilia Nip. At the Seminar, CEM Customer Services Department Customer Contact Management Assistant Officer Ryan Chan, Metering Services Engineers Sin Ka Man and Technical Assistant Andrew Choi introduced “CEM Customer Services”, “Household Energy Saving and Safety” and “Maintenance and Management of Public Electrical Installations”.

At the Seminar, Ryan Chan introduced CEM’s customer services and promoted “e-Service” and “Mobile App”. He advised customers to use online platform for application and inquiry, which is convenient and efficient. Sin Ka Man introduced some energy saving methods on common household appliances to avoid wasting energy and make contribution to preserve the blue sky of Macau. Besides, he also instructed customers how to use electrical appliance safely. Andrew Choi illustrated the categories and responsibilities of electrical installations in public buildings. Power outages may be caused and there may even be fire accidents and electric shock hazards, if the public electrical installations fall short of maintenance. Customers are advised to employ experienced electrical contractors to conduct regular maintenance.

Learning that energy saving can save money and make contribution to environment, the attendees expressed interest in joining “Macau Energy Saving Contest” to challenge their “energy saving ability”. “Residential Group” has been added to the contest since 2012 and all qualified residential customers are welcome to join. Cash prizes for winners of Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in “Residential Group” have been increased to MOP 5,000, MOP 3,000 and MOP 2,000 respectively. In addition, five Excellence Awards will be presented with cash prize of MOP1,000 each.
