CEM increases subsidy to maintain tariff unchanged for all Tariff Group A customers

Macau, 18 April 2014

According to the calculation under the concession contract, the 2nd quarter Tariff Clause Adjustment (TCA) will increase 1 cent to 45 cents per kWh. With the support of Macau SAR Government, concerning the impact of a lifting TCA to the residential and SME customers, CEM decided to maintain the Tariff Group A TCA at 36 cents per kWh, an increase of subsidy from 8 to 9 cents per kWh in comparison with the previous quarter.

CEM announces the TCA of the 2nd quarter of 2014 for Tariff Group A (mainly residential customers and small and medium enterprises supplied with low voltage, more than 99% of all customers) will remain unchanged at 36 cents per kWh, while Tariff Group B, C and D will be adjusted to 45 cents per kWh according to the contractual calculated value. CEM has been reducing the receipt of the TCA to manage the electricity tariff rise since 2008. In addition, with objective of sustaining quality and reliable power supply at reasonable prices, CEM is fully committed to strengthening its customer service and operational efficiency.
