CEM participated in the 18th"Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau Power Industry Services Seminar"

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) Advisor to the Executive Committee, Iun Iok Meng, led a delegation of 16 people to attend the 18th ��Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau Power Industry Services Seminar��, hosted by CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) on 22 November at Harbour Grand Hotel in Hong Kong Kowloon. CEM, Guangdong Power Grid Corporation (GPG) and CLP take turn to host the seminar annually, the purpose is to promote the development of the power industry and to boost the cooperation among the three regions.

Over hundred people from the power companies in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau attended the seminar with the theme of ��Innovation of Customer Services in the New Era of Intelligence - the 21st Century��, the attendees took part in comprehensive and in-depth discussions on the application of smart services and the opportunities that smart services brought to the industry, and shared their experience and exchanged views with peers. They hoped that through the discussions, the three regions could further improve their service quality.

Jorge Vieira, CEM Executive Committee, in his speech at the closing ceremony stated that 21st century is the century involving huge application of smart services, which inevitably extended to the power industry. With this year��s seminar topic ��Innovation of Customer Services in the New Era of Intelligence - the 21st Century��, it allows the industry to explore the opportunities to maximize the utility of smart services in the rapidly changing economy and environment. Delegates can further look into how to effectively allocate and manage the resources in response to the changing customer needs and expectations, providing customers with the best quality service. Vieira also addressed that the ��Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Service Seminar�� has been an effective platform for the three regions to enhance the cooperation and exchange valuable experience among the industry. CEM is delighted with its collaboration with GPG and CLP.

In the seminar, Evan Liu, Manager of Energy Business Management Power and Networks Dispatch presented to the attendees the new attempt of smart meter and customer service. CEM launched an Advanced Metering Infrastructure and has gradually carried out automatic meter reading, providing timely, accurate and flexible information to the customers. In addition, Henry Fong, Engineer of Network Planning, Design and Construction Department introduced CEM��s project at the University of Macau new campus on Hengqin Island. The infrastructure including a 110/11kV substation and 40 customer substations has been put in full operation in the third quarter of 2013. Smart Grid solutions have been adopted including a Close Ring configuration with a third-leg connection to ensure the highest reliability.

During the seminar, representatives from the three regions paid a visit to the CLP ��GREENPLUS Resort�� at Yuen Long. The Resort is CLP��s first one-step renewable energy exhibition centre in an outdoor setting. It showcases a series of innovative renewable technology and energy saving appliances, including Solar Powered Guest House, Step Power Generator, Gearless Wind Turbine, Outdoor Energy Efficient Lightings, Outdoor Air-Conditioning and Solar Thermal Water Heating System.

Other CEM representatives attending the seminar included Keegan Cheang, Jane Leong, William Yip, Vincent Lam, Luella Wong, Jaclyn Iun, Deolinda Ma, Clive Che, Jose Lam, Jay Leong, Benjamin Wong, Dave Leong and Trista Cheong.
