CEM and Macau Federation of Trade Unions Jointly Organize the “Healthy Eating” Induction Cooking Contest

5 June 2013

In order to further promote the use of induction cookers and the concept of healthy eating, last year CEM and Catering Services & Cooking Training Centre of Macau Federation of Trade Unions co-organized the “Healthy Eating” Induction Cooking Contest for the first time. Since the event received overwhelming response, the two organizations decided to hold the contest again this year, which will continue to be supported by Macau Professional Nutritionist Association. The contest will be held on 1 September (Sunday). Macau residents above the age of 18 who are not professional chefs can join the contest.

The contest is devised to increase the public’s knowledge of electric cooking and the importance of a balanced diet. Participants are required to design a healthy and eco-friendly dish based on the principle of a balanced diet. The judges will base on the design concepts to select the finalists for the contest, and the winners will be elected basing on the dishes cooked with induction cooker in the final competition.

The contest will be divided into two phases: the selection of recipes and the cooking contest. The participants are required to fill in the registration form and post it to the designated address before 9 August. The judge panel will select the finalists from the entries to participate in the cooking contest scheduled on 1 September.

A seminar for the contest participants will be held at the Catering Services & Cooking Training Centre of Macau Federation of Trade Unions at 7:30pm on 30 July, in which professional chefs, nutritionists and CEM representatives will share with those who are interested to enter the contest the use of induction cookers and concept of healthy cooking. Site inspection to the contest venue will also be arranged for the participants.

The evaluation criteria for the “Healthy Eating” Induction Cooking Contest include the eco-friendly ingredients selection and composition; color, smell, taste and appearance; nutritional value and practicality. In addition, in order to enhance family harmony, this year’s contest is open to families of two to take part as a team. They can improve the family bonding through the activity and even get additional points.

Winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards will receive electrical appliance coupons of MOP3,000, MOP2,000 and MOP1,000 respectively.
