CEM's delegates attend the 19th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry

Organized by The Indonesian Electrical Power Society, the 19th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI 2012) is held during 15 to 19 October in Bali, Indonesia. Approximately 2,000 delegates from 40 countries and areas attended the Conference. CEM Executive Directors Bernie Leong and Jorge Vieira led a team of delegates including Network Operations & Maintenance Department Senior Manager Billy Chan, Generation Department Generation Business Management Unit Manager Guetta Xavier, Customer Services Department Metering Service Management Manager Lam Ion Chong, etc. attended the Conference. Three representatives from CEM presented papers.

Bernie Leong expressed, CEPSI is one of the most important events in the power industry in the region. By assigning CEM’s delegates to attend the Conference, CEM can strengthen the exchange of expertise on technological development with other players in the industry. It is important in this ever-changing economy and environment to keep updated with latest technologies and skills which are essential for uplifting the internal management and service standards in order to provide superior power supply services for Macao in future.

CEPSI is under the patronage of The Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP). Member countries are appointed to host the Conference on a rotational basis biennially. CEPSI has become one of the premier events in Asia not only within its own electricity industry but throughout the Asian business community. It is instrumental in the development of the regional electricity industry and seeks to provide solutions to challenges that the industry is facing in this area of the world. The AESIEAP members are companies that operate in the electricity supply industry in the Asia Pacific region and other companies related to this industry. CEM is one of the key members and also the organizer in 2008 to host the CEPSI in Macao. With the theme of the Conference, “Enhancing Clean Technology and Securing Investment for Sustainable Electric Power Industry Development”, there were four main topics to be covered during the discussion in the Conference including Policy and Instruments, The Best Available Technology, The Investment Opportunity and The Experience in Running Clean Technology.

Three papers from CEM were presented during the Conference, including Network Operations & Maintenance Department Senior Engineer Lawrence Sun’s “Development of Cable Asset Management in Macao”, Generation Department Senior Engineer Thomas Cheang’s “Feasibility Study of Energy Efficiency of Auxiliary Power Networks of Coloane Power Stations, Macao SAR”, Generation Department Generation Business Management Unit Manager Guetta Xavier’s “Short-Term Energy Planning and Optimization in Macao”.
