Power outage at Areia Preta Area, CEM took immediate emergency action to restore the power

This morning a medium-voltage equipment fault occurred at CEM’s Areia Preta Area Rua do Canal Novo No. PT699 Substation, causing a power outage at the Kin Wa Buildings with 632 customers affected.

At 00:41am, a medium-voltage equipment fault occurred at CEM’s Areia Preta Area Rua do Canal Novo No. PT699 Substation, causing a power outage at several Kin Wa Buildings. CEM immediately sent team of crew and engineers on site for emergency restoration. During the restoration conducted at 01:02 am, due to technical need, a two-minute power outage was caused to over 1,000 customers at the Yu Wa Building. Along with the previous 632 affected customers, total number of affected customers exceeded 2,000. Power supply of most of the affected customers was restored at 01:04am. The remaining 632 affected customers’ power supply was fully restored at 02:09am and 03:25am.

CEM is highly concerned about this incident and immediately carried out investigation of the causes. CEM will review the case and implement relevant measures for improvement. Moreover, CEM will submit the incident report to Energy Sector Development Office (GDSE) shortly and sincerely apologizes to the customers affected by the power outage.
