Nearly 30 delegates from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the MSAR, Administration and Financial Affairs Department led by Vice Director-General Wang Linping joined CEM Energizing Tour on 22 July. They were warmly received by CEM Generation Department Senior Manager Ip Kam Veng, Power and Network Dispatch Department Senior Manager Benjamin Yue, Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager Iun Iok Meng and Manager Cecilia Nip.
Ip Kam Veng introduced the operations and the core values of CEM to the delegates, and mentioned about CEM’s investment plan in improving the power network, its achievement in environmental protection in the recent decade, and the continuous rising customer satisfactory level. Moreover, he also shared with the delegates about the various large projects already carried out by CEM, among which 70% of the major project of the 220kV network between Macao and Cotai has been completed, and the project of the 220kV Hengqin network at Cotai has been initiated. The major project of the 220kV network between Macao and Cotai is an upgrading project, which will convert the current 110kV network to 220kV. The new 220kV Lotus Substation will be completed by the end of 2011. The two 220kV networks will connect with Lotus Substation and Canal dos Patos Substation and the transmission capacity will be increased by another 700 MW. The project is expected to be completed and fully put into operation by 2012.
Wan Linping believed that electricity is closely related to the life of public, and also an important foundation of the city economic development. Through organizing visits like the Energizing Tour, CEM can let more citizens understand its operations. After completing the visit, Wang praised on CEM’s performance and achievement in environmental protection in recent years, and applauded for its contribution in the local economic development and power supply reliability.
Iun Iok Meng expressed his gratitude to the delegation for giving CEM an opportunity to receive them. He hoped their bonds will be strengthened in the future and CEM is open to their precious ideas and suggestions. Iun also mentioned that CEM has successfully held the Energizing Tour since June 2009 to consolidate the public’s knowledge about Coloane Power Station and allow them to experience how green energy can make their life better. The Energizing Tour has been popular among the public and the associations, including the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the MSAR, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC in MSAR, and various government departments of Macao SAR. Up till the latest number of yesterday, there are totally 9,858 visitors in 259 groups who have joined the Energizing Tour. It is expected that the number of visitors will reach 10,000 in a month, and CEM will then hold a celebration ceremony. Later, both parties exchanged souvenirs and had group photos. The delegates revealed that they have benefited a lot from this visit, and understood more about the power station.
