CEM partners with KLJC to organize the “Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course”

In order to promote the sustainable development of Macao, foster and provide sufficient pre-employment training for individuals aspiring to start a career as technical operation and strengthen citizens’ competitive edge in the employment market, in 2011, CEM, together with the Macau Kung Luen Vocational & Technical Middle School (KLJC), organized a three-year evening course, which is recognized by the Macao government. CEM is the first public utility service provider in Macao to collaborate with the technical schools in this regard.

The syllabus of the course is jointly designed by KLJC and CEM. CEM will assign some of its engineers as the tutors of the second-year curriculum. In the third year, CEM will provide students with internship opportunities, in the hope that they may put what they have learned in class into their work, acquire working experience, learn the corporate culture of CEM and enhance their confidence in the relevant sectors. Upon completion of the three-year course, outstanding students may be employed by CEM.

The second-year curriculum of the first “Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course” kicked off on September 4, 2012, with 19 students enrolled so far. In addition, a team of teachers comprised of 12 engineers from the operations department of CEM will teach classes covering eight professional curriculums, including basic theory on Basic Electricity (I), Power Plant Operation Skills and Principles, Skills of Power Network Construction, Skills of Power Network Operation and Maintenance, Basic Electricity (II), Maintenance Skills for Power Plant Equipment, Skills of Power & Network Dispatch, Skills of Metering Engineering & Maintenance.

In addition, the second “Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course 2012-2015” successfully kicked off again this year, with 20 students signed up in total. CEM hopes to cultivate local youngsters into technicians with professional skills and capability, so as to make contributions to the stability and prosperity of Macao.
