CEM launches “Power Elites” program to actively promote electricity knowledge on campus

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) especially launches the “Power Elites” training program to cultivate youngsters’ good habits in power consumption and resource conservation. Through the selection of elites, CEM aims to deepen students’ understanding of electricity and arouse their interest in electrical energy, help them establish a correct concept on energy conservation and environmental protection at an early age, as well as promote electricity-related knowledge on campus, thus youngsters can protect Macau’s social environment and create a sustainable future as they grow up. The Program is co-organized with the Chinese Educators Association of Macau and General Association of Chinese Students of Macao.

To broaden the Elites’ horizons, the one-year program includes activities of visiting CEM to learn about the power generation process and its infrastructures and facilities, get to know local power generation and the daily operation of engineers, as well as visit neighboring regions including Hong Kong and Mainland China.

All participants are required to submit a report summarizing the knowledge and experience gained over the year at the end of the Program. All entrants with passed reports will grant a Completion Certificate. Meanwhile, the Program has set up a number of awards, including the “Performance Excellence Award” (five winners), each will receive a cash prize of MOP 2,000 and a trophy; the “Best Report Award” (five winners), each will receive a cash prize of MOP 1,000 and a Commendation Certificate; and the “Teamwork Award” (one team), each member of the winning team will gain Hong Kong Disneyland 1-day tickets with round-trip jetfoil tickets for two.

“Power Elites” is open to Form 1 and Form 2 Macau full-time secondary school students, with a maximum of 40 participants. Interested students have to sign up at their respective schools, and schools will nominate by submitting the shortlist to CEM. Each school can nominate a maximum of four candidates. The final participants will be selected via drawing lots if there are more than 40 nominations on the shortlist.
