Macao, 11 July 2011
CEM is celebrating this year the 10th edition of its Energy Fun Fair. The Fair will be held on Sunday 9 October 2011 at Tap Seac Square in Macao, with the theme ‘Save the Earth, save energy!’. Uplifting the atmosphere of the Fair for its 10th edition, CEM will organize several special measures to encourage the participation of the public.
Thirteen local secondary schools will participate, namely Escola Secundária Tong Nam, Escola Choi Nong Chi Tai, Millennium Secondary School, Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima, Sacred Heart Canossian College, Escola Keang Peng Secção Secundária, The Workers’ Children High School, Escola Secundária Pui Ching, Escola Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Pooi To Middle School, Macau Anglican College, Escola Secundária Kao Yip, and Escola Secundária Luso-Chinesa de Luís Gonzaga Gomes. The schools are invited to develop school projects related to the theme, and the projects will be displayed on the day of the event, for the public’s learning and interaction.
Morever, students from the thirteen schools are also challenged to participate in a ‘Talent Competition’, also related to the main theme of the event. Hundreds of students and thousands of visitors are expected to be attracted by the event. Energy Fun Fair was first launched in 2001, with the objective to enhance the public’s knowledge about the electricity phenomenon, and increase their awareness on the necessity to conserve energy and ultimately protect the environment, with a special focus on the younger generation.
For the collection of opinions to improve the event and to make it more attractive, CEM held a meeting with the teachers from this year’s participating schools on 6 July. The teachers shared some of their ideas about the projects that are being developed for the display in the event, and expressed that the students are very excited and committed to the development of the project, which will be shown to the public to demonstrate their learning abilities. CEM believes that the 10th edition of Energy Fun Fair will be more appealing and vivid, with the support and co-operation of the schools and the public. The public at large, especially families with young children, are invited to participate in the event to spend an educational yet joyful family day, with chances to play games, watch fantastic performances and win many amazing prizes.
