CEM and Macau Federation of Trade Unions co-held seminar to enhance seniors' awareness in electrical safety and energy conservation

CEM and Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ senior center at Mong Ha jointly organized a seminar on household electrical safety and energy conservation at the senior center at 3pm on July 18, drawing about 120 attendees.

Director of Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ Social Service Committee Ieong Sok Chong said some elderly citizens were found lacking awareness in household electrical safety during their daily service and the committee concerned about the danger it might bring. She expressed gratitude to CEM for sending professionals to hold the seminar for the elderly at the center to educate them about the correct use of electricity.

Advisor to CEM Executive Committee Iun Iok Meng agreed that the safe use of electricity and proper electrical installations are highly important for the elderly. CEM has always attached importance to the community and encouraged employees to help the needy in society with their professional knowledge and skills. Customer Services Department Engineer Sin Ka Man introduced household energy saving methods and electrical safety tips to the elderly at the seminar. He reminded them to pay attention to the safety of electric equipment. Besides reminding them to replace old wires, he also alerted them with some common household accidents, such as the improper use of universal plugs and appliances. At the end of the seminar, CEM staff prepared a quiz for the elderly and they answered the questions enthusiastically. The seminar ended in laughter.
