Macao, 29 March 2012
In order to promote electricity as an eco option and support the Macao SAR Government’s “Thinking Green, Going Clean and Living Cool” initiative, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau, CEM – S.A. (CEM) once again sets up an exhibition booth in the “2012 Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2012 MIECF) organised by the Macao SAR Government, and was presented with the “Green Booth Award”.
Being Macao’s “Green Partner”, protecting the environment is one of CEM’s principle corporate values, therefore CEM has been actively promoting electricity as an eco option. In “2012 MIECF”, CEM sets up a 54 square metre exhibition booth based on the theme “Use electricity as an eco option” with four topics: “e-Service”, “Electric Vehicle”, “Induction Cooker” and “Electric Water Heater”, aiming to demonstrate to the public their advantages and benefits including safety, convenience, comfort and environmental friendliness. For instance, by using an electric water heater, the risk of oxygen scarcity and gas emission will be reduced as it does not require ignition or smouldering of combustion gas. While direct heating can enhance the thermal efficiency, electric water heater can save up to 20% of energy costs. Heat efficiency of induction cooker is over 90%. Cooking time is 30% faster than conventional cooker and saves 30-50% on energy. The kitchen temperature is 4-5°C lower than using an ordinary cooking stove, making the kitchen cool and comfortable. Besides, installation of an induction cooker under 2800W requires only a standard household 13A socket.
During the exhibition, CEM continues to demonstrate the benefits of the electric vehicle. Apart from not causing any roadside air pollution, electric vehicle only requires a 13A socket to charge its battery. It is simple and efficient.
Besides, CEM also promotes the brand new e-Service which is well-received by the public. Customers simply log on to www.cem-macau.com anytime and anywhere, they can perform various applications and online services.
The exhibition will be held from 29 to 31 March 2012 at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The first two days are only open to industry professionals and on 31 March, from 9am to 6pm, the exhibition will be open to public free of charge.
