CEM Mobile App Game Concept Design Contest Award Presentation Ceremony

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) and Macao Computer Society launched a Mobile App Game Concept Design Contest in April. The purpose of the contest was to encourage the public and students to learn about electricity saving and safety and take part in the related efforts through designing mobile game App. CEM received vigorous response to the contest. The Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 13 August, 2013 at the Auditorium of CEM Building. Guests attending the ceremony included Macao Computer Society President Adam Iao, Directors Foggy Wan and Chan Kin Tung, CEM Advisor to Executive Committee Iun Iok Meng, Information Systems Department Senior Manager Denis Chan, Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager Cecilia Nip and Manager Jaclyn Iun.

Entrants are divided into two groups: Open Group and Student Group. Open Group winners are: Champion, Kuok Ka Keong; 1st runner-up, Leong Pui I; 2nd runner-up, Zhou Yingsi. Each winner will receive MOP5,000, MOP3,000 and MOP2,000 respectively. Student Group winners are: Champion, Chan Io Kei; 1st runner-up: Chong Hio Ian; 2nd runner-up: Fong Hok Kin. They will receive MOP3,000, MOP2,000 and MOP1,000 respectively.

In the ceremony, winners expressed that the contest let them have the opportunity to do research and get to know in depth about electricity, they gained knowledge in electricity saving and safety through the process of designing their own mobile app game concept. On the other hand, Adam Iao, one of the judges, stated that by only submitting a blueprint of the mobile App game concept design and not requiring program development, the contest can effectively attract more people to take part. He was impressed by the entrants’ creativity on how to link up games and education of energy saving and safety. The judges also deemed that the public has improved the awareness of electricity saving and safety in recent years.

Cecilia Nip emphasized that promotion of energy saving and safety is always one of CEM’s core messages delivered to the citizens. This was the first time of CEM to launch a Mobile App Game Design Contest, also was the first mobile app game concept design contest held in Macau, hoping to explore more approaches to reach and educate different target groups of citizens. CEM will continuously hold various events to promote energy saving and safety in the future.
