25 Students completed Summer Training Program in CEM

CEM has always been devoted to nurturing young talents of Macao. Since the launch of the Summer Internship Program in year 1991, CEM has provided internship opportunities for local university and secondary school students. Through personal experience, students are expected to get to know the operation of the company and to be better equipped to integrate into the society. So far more than five hundreds of students from various schools had participated in the program.

This year, from June to August, CEM received 12 students from the University of Macau (UM), 6 students under the Youngster Occupation Program of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ), and 7 students from other universities and schools to participate in the Summer Training Program. The 25 students were assigned to work in different departments and offices, including Customers Services Department; Finance Department; Generation Department; Human Resources Department; Information Systems Department; Network Operations and Maintenance Department; Network Planning, Design and Construction Department; Procurement and Logistic Department; Power and Networks Dispatch Department, Communications and Public Affairs Office; and Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Office. In order to make the internship program more effective, CEM arranged the management staff of various departments to serve as mentors for the students.

During the Summer Training Program, a “Safety & Health Awareness Training” was organized for all the students to introduce to them the CEM Safety and Health policy as well as fundamental knowledge of common hazards, risk, and control methods at work. A site visit to various CEM premises was also organized for the university students to enable them to have a close encounter with CEM’s different facilities.

The overall feedback from the students is very positive. They claimed that they were satisfied with the training program, which broadened their views and allowed them to better understand how duties and responsibilities were distributed in a large institution and the professionalism required for working in a power utility company.
