Training and Internship programs

Our Support to Local Education

CEM has always played an active role in the nourishment of local talents. Since 1991, the company has established several cooperation agreements with local educational institutions. Every year, CEM grants a number of scholarships to the best students in different educational institutions. Summer Training Programs are organized annually to provide university and secondary school students the opportunities to be attached to different departments of CEM, to put into practice what they have learned and to enhance their work experience.

In terms of training programs, CEM has designed the “Newly Graduate Training Program” and “Junior Management Training Program” to offer internship and job opportunities to the fresh university graduates. Since year 2011, CEM has also entered into cooperation with Kung Luen Vocational & Technical Middle School (KLJC) in organizing the annual training of “Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course”; in addition, in March 2017, CEM further entered into agreement with KLJC and Macao Water to jointly launching a three-year “electro-mechanic Technical Course”, providing a wider technical learning platform and better opportunity for the young people who are interested in the technical professional career.

Training & Internship

Summer Training Program

CEM and the University of Macau have established in 1991 a protocol of co-operation, where CEM will provide facilities to train the students of the University of Macau in the form of an annual summer training program.

The summer training program takes place every year in the months of June to August and is aimed at third year students. Apart from the summer training programs, the agreement between CEM and the University of Macau also includes the attribution of scholarships, the sponsorship of common interest research projects — which enable the students to participate in practical tasks in CEM — and the attribution of two prizes for the best graduates of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering courses. Since 1991, 465 students from the University of Macau have been trained in different CEM departments.

Within the scope of the preferential recruitment scheme, there are presently around 97 graduates of the University of Macau working at CEM, corresponding to approximate 1/3 of the Company’s executives.

Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course

CEM and Kung Luen Vocational & Technical Middle School (KLJC) had established a protocol in 2011 to cooperate in organizing on yearly basis, a 3-year “Electrical Power System Technical Operator Course” which the Macau Special Administration Region Government recognized as a vocational senior secondary evening school program.

The objective of the Program is to train local young people with specific technical skills and competencies to become electrical power system technical operators in Macau. CEM provides tutors for all technical subjects of the Program. In the third year of the Program, CEM will provide internship opportunities to the outstanding students. Although without any obligation in hiring candidates, job interview priority will be given to the graduates of the Program whenever there is any adequate vacancy.

Electro-mechanic Technical Course

CEM, KLJC, and Macao Water entered into a cooperation agreement on 23 March 2017 to jointly launching a three-year “Electro-mechanic Technical Course”. The syllabus of the course is jointly formulated by KLJC, CEM and Macao Water. CEM and Macao Water will provide mentorship for the program. In the third year of the program, CEM and Macao Water will provide internship opportunities to students, enabling them to apply their techniques at work, acquire work experience, learn about corporate culture, as well as strengthen their confidence to work in related industries. Students who complete the course with good academic and internship performance may be considered, with priority, for recruitment by CEM and Macao Water after completing the program.
