Training and Internship programs

Our Support to Local Education

 

CEM has always played an active role in the nourishment of local talents. Since 1991, the company has established several cooperation agreements with local educational institutions. Every year, CEM grants a number of scholarships to the best students in different educational institutions. Summer Training Programs are organized annually to provide university and secondary school students the opportunities to be attached to different departments of CEM, to put into practice what they have learned and to enhance their work experience.

In terms of training programs, CEM has designed the “Newly Graduate Training Program” and “Junior Management Training Program” to offer internship and job opportunities to the fresh university graduates. 

 

Training & Internship

 

Summer Training Program

CEM and the University of Macau have established in 1991 a protocol of co-operation, where CEM will provide facilities to train the students of the University of Macau in the form of an annual summer training program.

The summer training program takes place every year in the months of June to August and is aimed at third year students. Apart from the summer training programs, the agreement between CEM and the University of Macau also includes the attribution of scholarships, the sponsorship of common interest research projects — which enable the students to participate in practical tasks in CEM — and the attribution of two prizes for the best graduates of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering courses. Since 1991, 552 students from the University of Macau have been trained in different CEM departments.

Within the scope of the preferential recruitment scheme, there are presently around 135 graduates of the University of Macau working at CEM, corresponding to approximate 1/3 of the Company’s executives.

Newly Graduate Training Program

Objectives

To offer practical training to university graduates who have recently completed their tertiary studies.

Requirements

  • Fresh graduates with academic qualifications that are suitable for CEM businesses.
  • Relevant working experience is not required.
  • Willing to accept varying working conditions (geographically and functionally) during the training period.
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English is compulsory. Knowledge of Mandarin / Portuguese is an advantage.

Program Specifications

  • The program is on a six-month contract basis. The contract may be renewed only once for another six months, at the end of which it is terminated without any obligation of employment.
  • Performance evaluation shall be done at the end of each contractual period by a tutor who has been assigned to accompany and assist the trainee during the entire training period.

Terms and Conditions

  • Appropriate salary shall be offered to the trainee during the training period.

Junior Management Training Program

Objectives

  • To offer job opportunities to university graduates.
  • To develop, in the medium term, qualified personnel with specific academic backgrounds to fill up key positions in the Company.

Requirements

  • Young graduates with academic qualifications that are suitable and capable for taking up job functions at CEM.
  • It is not necessary to possess previous working experience.
  • Willing to accept varying working conditions (geographically and functionally) during the training period.
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English is compulsory. Knowledge of Mandarin / Portuguese is an advantage.

Program Specifications

  • Job duties assigned to the trainees should be of a technical or management nature to enable the trainees to put into practice their academic knowledge acquired at university and college.
  • The training program lasts up to a maximum of 3 years and can be speeded up or terminated depending on the progress and performance of the trainee.
  • A tutor will be assigned to accompany and assist the trainee in different work functions within the department as well as across the Company.
  • Performance evaluation will be done at the end of each year by the tutor who has accompanied the trainee.

Terms and Conditions

  • An Annual Contract will be established between CEM and the trainee during the Program. At the end of the 3rd year, a decision shall be made for long-term integration into the Company or termination of employment relationship.
  • Salary offered to the trainee will be commensurate with the trainee’s progress during the training period.
