Since 1972 CEM holds the exclusive concession to generate, transmit,
distribute, sell, import and export electricity in Macau.
Throughout this time we have embraced the highest ideals of
customer service and shareholder value, providing our customers
with both professional and convenient customer services.
In fact CEM aims to be a model company amongst
other energy suppliers in Asia and as such we have established
a five brand promises: to customers, to shareholders, to the
environment, to the community and to employees.
We have put in place a stronger commitment on
providing upcoming quality services to our customers, as well
as realizing our shareholders trust on investments.
Environmental consciousness also turned into
a top priority issue at CEM. Our goal is to become one of
the most environmentally friendly power producers in the region.
We are committed to preventing pollution by minimizing the
environmental impact of our operations, to applying the best
available sustainable technologies and also to achieving the
highest environmental performance standards.
As we understand we play an essential role in
our community’s well being we are a lot concerned about
the development of the local community, and such we continuously
commit ourselves to deliver actions which will contribute
to help those in major needs in the society. Besides, high
employee morale is our drive, and so we have implemented Occupational
Safety and Health international standards we believe will
contribute to a better working environment, as well as improve
our operations’ efficiency.
In the past years Macau has been facing tremendous
changes. The economy has been growing rapidly, attracting
more people and new investments. All these new changes correlated
with customers’ increasing demand, environmental consciousness,
CEM Concession Contract revision, and the need to improve
the efficiency of our operations will let us face more challenges
in the future.
Despite being confident on our experience and
know-how, and the great partnership we have developed with
the community, we understand that more has to be done, and
such we have been preparing ourselves, in order to comply
with our ambitious objectives.
Environment
The Coloane B Power Station (CCB) is the first
in Macau to use a selection of the Best Available Sustainable
Technology (BAST). The combined cycle gas turbine technology
used in CCB is one of the most environmental friendly technologies
currently available in the world, representing a very important
advance in the field of environmental protection, also enabling
the use of natural gas when it becomes available with further
benefits to the environment. The installation of the systems,
together with some complementary equipment, allows for a significant
reduction of atmospheric emissions of nitrogen oxides, particulates
and hydrocarbons, three of the most relevant pollutants resulting
from fossil fuel combustion.
Another major step towards pollution prevention
is the newly implemented on-line monitoring system in all
stacks of the Coloane Power Station Diesel engines units,
which provides continuous information on the most relevant
pollutants. This information ensures that air emissions are
controlled and maintained within established limits.
Customer Service
With the increasing importance of the Internet
in our daily lives, we have created our corporate website
www.cem-macau.com since 2001, where our customers can access
useful information and request the most relevant services
from our Company. Besides, CEM and Macao Water jointly present
a brand new website www.macauservices.com, as a convenient
one-stop services for public utilities services, featuring
a variety of online services and information.
CEM has also been running since July 2001 an
Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) System for Commercial and Industrial
Large Customers. This system enables CEM to more efficiently
retrieve customers’ energy consumption at any time and
perform in a reliable and flexible way an optimized metering
system management.
Another innovative and convenient service we
have implemented is the Payment Reminder Service, through
which we remind our customers of bill settlement by mobile
phone SMS two working days before the Payment Due Date or
the Latest Date to Avoid Disconnection. And this is a free
service. Customers have to apply for this service by simply
contacting us at our Service Centre or at our Info Line 28339911.
Customers can also download the application form at our websites
www.cem-macau.com or www.macauservices.com. Autopay customers
only receive the SMS reminder two working days before the
Latest Date to Avoid Disconnection.
CEM and Macao Water established another joint
service in 2005, which permits our customers, in an extremely
simple way, to have their bills reprinted automatically in
a very short duration of time. Customers have just to input
their contract number on a self-service kiosk located at both
CEM and Macao Water Customer Service Centres in order to get
their bills immediately.
