Coloane – B
Power Station (CCB) |
Following the Sino-French group, in December 1989 the group
led by IPE, Investments and Business Participation, a Portuguese
State Holding, including BNU, the entrepreneur Ilídio
Pinho, the Portuguese Electricity Company (EDP) and later, the
Macau investor Johnny Or, acquired an important participation
in the share capital of CEM, equaling the 45% of the Sino-French
group. The privatization of the company was thus complete, and
the territory of Macau was left with a stake of 8% of share
capital in the company.
In February 1990, CEM signed a contract of financing and credit
facilities with a syndicate of banks in the amount of MOP450
million for credit facilities to invest in two new generators
for the Coloane Power Station. It was the biggest venture at
that time undertaken by any private entity in Macau.
In 1991, the remodeling of the supply network was completed.
Two groups of generators began functioning in the Coloane Power
Station, and a plan for recruitment and training of local staff
was implemented with the objective of progressive substitution
of expatriate staff.
In 1993, the substation of Porto Exterior was inaugurated to
serve the new areas of NAPE and ZAPE (thus reducing the overload
on the Lisboa substation). During this time, the dispatch system
for transmission and distribution of electricity in Macau, involving
an investment of MOP44 million, began operating. This permitted
the automatic supervision and control of the transmission and
distribution of the electricity network.
