| At CEM, we understand we play an essential
role on our society well being, and so we are committed to making
a meaningful contribution to the local community. Being aware of
our corporate citizenship responsibility, we involve ourselves with
a wide and diverse range of charitable activities, providing financial
and other kinds of support to help the less fortunate of our society.
In 2006, CEM sponsored and made donations of almost MOP2.5 million
to support various initiatives such as art & cultural events,
sports activities, social solidarity, conferences, exhibitions,
and educational programmes.
Sports Activities
Recently Macau has been pledging to promote the development of the
sports activities by hosting a series of important sports events
in the Territory. It is our quest to support and encourage such
kind of initiatives, as they attract great media interest and coverage,
and are important not only for the development of the local sport
associations and sportsmen, but, also to promote and reinforce Macau’s
regional and international image. Following we introduce some of
the events that we have sponsored in 2006:

Art & Cultural Events
Macau Cultural Institute
Since its establishment the Macau Cultural Institute (ICM) has been
playing an essential role on the educational and entertainment field,
providing to the Macau community a wide range of cultures and festivities’
tastes. In 2006 we have mainly sponsored the 20th Macau International
Music Festival – Performance of “Carlos do Carmo”.
