Inauguration Ceremony of the 5th Term CEM Customer Liaison Committee

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) held its Inauguration Ceremony for the 5th Term CEM Customer Liaison Committee (CLC) at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa in the evening on 25 June 2009.

Guests attending the Inauguration Ceremony included representative of Secretary for Transport and Public Works and Director of Office for Energy Industry Development Arnaldo Santos, China Liaison Office Economic Affairs Department Senior Assistant Director-General Li Chunman, President of the CLC Vong Kok Seng and Vice President Lei Chi Fong, President of the 1st Term of the CLC Iu Iu Cheong, President of the 2nd to 4th Term of the CLC José Chui, Presidents and representatives of the nineteen civic associations participating in the CEM Customer Liaison Committee, members of the CEM Customer Liaison Committee, as well as senior management staffs of CEM.

Established in 2000, the Committee is the pioneering organization among the local public utilities for the liaison between the customers and the company, allowing CEM to obtain timely customer feedbacks from its diverse customer base. CLC members include representatives from different industries and associations with a wide range of representation.

At present, the 19 committee members are representatives of the following associations and industries: Macao Chamber of Commerce, Macao Goldsmith’s Guild, General Workers Association, Association of Macao Restaurant Merchants, Associations of Property Agents and Realty Developers of Macao, Property Management Business Association of Macao, General Residents Association, Macao Entertainment & Service Association, Macao Association of Building Contractors and Developers, Macao Association of Consumers of Public Utility Companies, Macao Hoteliers & Innkeepers Association, Women’s General Association of Macao, Consumer Council, Macao Electromechanics Professionals Association, Macao General Association of Real Estate, Industrial Association of Macao and Macao Construction Association. In the meantime, there are 10 members from CEM different departments.

During his speech at the ceremony, CEM Executive Director João Travassos da Costa thanked the contribution of the associations and the members to the success of the CLC. He said that CEM is confident that the 5th Term Committee will continue to excel in its role as the bridge between CEM and our customers under the leadership of President Vong Kok Seng and Vice-President Lei Chi Fong. Their contribution is going to help CEM to be more perceptive to customer needs, thereby allowing CEM to create service offerings that consistently exceed customer expectation.

Vong Kok Seng, Vice-President of Board of Directors of Macao Chamber of Commerce was elected to chair the 5th Term of the Committee. In his speech, Vong stated that CEM has been dedicated to the sufficient, stable and reasonably-priced power supply in Macao and made significant achievements. The establishment of the Committee closely links CEM with customers and social groups and has achieved great performance. The Committee lives up to expectations. Vong expects the communication platform function of the Committee will streamline the communication between CEM and the customers, improve CEM’s service quality, and provide more favorable conditions for Macao’s steady economic growth and society harmony.

To be able to capture and follow up closely the opinions of customers, CEM launches the customer satisfaction surveys every year. The survey findings indicates that the satisfaction level of CEM customers has been consistently the highest among utility companies in Macao, CEM will continue its efforts to further improve its customer services. CEM reliability performance is firmly among international leaders. The Average System Availability Index (ASAI) reached 99.9995%1, is amongst the best in the world when compared with developed countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
