Finale of “celebration of the 10th anniversary of Macau SAR - Tam Kai Hon's photography exhibition” to be kicked off in CEM Building

The finale of “celebration of the 10th anniversary of Macao SAR - Tam Kai Hon’s photography exhibition” will be unveiled in CEM Building on 3 March. 18 pieces of works of Tam Kai-hon, themed on the celebration of 10th anniversary of Macau SAR, will be showcased. This exhibition will also mark a successful ending of CEM’s dual-celebration cultural events and exhibitions in the past ten months.

The officiating guests include Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy-Director of the Culture and Education Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, Ma Kam Keong, Member of the Administrative Council of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Institute, Sio In Leong, Visual Arts Planner of the Cultural Events Department of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, CEM Customer Liaison Committee President Vong Kok Seng and Vice-President Lei Chi Fong, Lou Cheok Weng, President of Macau Photography and Printing Traders Association, Cheong Io Tong, Chairman of the Council of the Photographic Society of Macau, Lei U Weng, Chairman of the Photography Salon Society of Macao, Yan Kwok Fu, President of Macao Digital Photography Association, CEM Executive Director João Travassos da Costa, Bernie Leong and Jorge Vieira.

Tam Kai Hon is a senior photographer in Macao. Born in Hong Kong, he immigrated to Macau during his childhood. He started to work in a photo studio in 1947 and has devoted himself to photography creation since then. Meanwhile, he has played an active role in local photography groups for years and contributed a lot to photography. His photographic work has stretched over two centuries. He has witnessed the era of photo studio during which hand-made films and photo development using natural light were prevalent. It was also the time when the art of photography began to commercialize.

This time, the staged 18 pieces of works of Mr. Tam witnessed the historical moments of the handover of Macao SAR, the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Macao SAR, the grand inauguration of two Macau Chief Executives, as well as the fantastic fireworks night show. The works are precious collections which can become visitors’ eternal memory. This exhibition will last from 3 March till 17 March. Opening hours are from 9:00am to 10:00pm. Citizens are welcomed to attend the exhibition.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China as well as the 10th anniversary of handover of Macau SAR, CEM has launched a series of cultural events since last June. These events include 23 exhibitions of photographic, calligraphic, art and design works, which are well received by citizens. More than 1,000 honored guests were invited and over 50,000 citizens visited the exhibitions.
